Craneable Lifting Beam

5000kg WLL | 3m, 5m and 7m Lengths | Grade S355 Steel | Manufactured in the UK | Fully Certified

A fully certified craneable lifting beam for transporting materials and goods that require more than one lift point. The beam connects to a crane via two attachment points on the topside, with multiple lifting points on the underside for attaching loads. Manufactured in the UK from Grade S355 British and European steel.

Key Features

  • Two topside attachment points connect the beam to the crane hook or shackle, distributing the load and reducing inward crushing forces on the load below.
  • Multiple underside lifting points allow loads to be attached at evenly spaced intervals along the beam, keeping the lift balanced and stable.
  • Built-in stand prevents fouling of hooks when the beam is landed on the ground and allows easy access to attached lifting chains and materials.
  • 5000kg WLL across all three lengths.
  • Grade S355 steel construction throughout, manufactured in the UK from British and European steel.
  • Tested and certified to Factor of Safety 3.

Technical Specifications

Product Code Length WLL Lifting Points Height with Chains Max Chain Angle Weight
CA233-05000 3000mm 5000kg 6 1900mm 45ยฐ 170kg
CA235-05000 5000mm 5000kg 10 2400mm 45ยฐ 260kg
CA237-05000 7000mm 5000kg 12 3000mm 45ยฐ 350kg

The weight of the beam must be added to the weight of the load when calculating the total load on the crane hook. Do not exceed the WLL of individual lifting points. Maximum chain angle 45ยฐ.

CE Marked, UKCA Compliant & Fully Certified to All Required Lifting Standards and Regulations

These lifting beams are CE marked and UKCA compliant, manufactured to BS EN 13155 and BS EN ISO 12100:2010, and fully compliant with LOLER 1998 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER 1998 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations). Tested and certified to a Factor of Safety of 3.

Suitable Applications

The craneable lifting beam is used where a load cannot be lifted from a single point, or where more than one item needs to be transported in a single lift. Typical site applications include lifting lengths of rebar, structural steel sections, formwork panels, cladding elements, and other long or flexible materials by tower crane or mobile crane where a chain sling would apply inward forces or cause instability.

How to Use the Craneable Lifting Beam

  1. Inspect the beam before each use. Check the lifting eyes, attachment points and stand for damage, deformation or corrosion. Do not use if defects are found.
  2. Attach the relevant lifting chains to the two topside attachment points and connect to the crane hook or shackle. Ensure the crane hook gate is fully closed and secured.
  3. Move the beam to where the materials are located, keeping it at a sensible height and guided by a slinger/signaller at all times.
  4. Attach the materials or goods to the underside lifting points using suitably rated lifting chains and safety accessories. Ensure attachment points are used correctly so the beam will be balanced when load bearing.
  5. Confirm the total load including beam weight does not exceed the crane's rated capacity. Use tag lines to control long loads.
  6. Transport the beam and materials to the required location and place onto stable, firm ground capable of accepting the combined load.
  7. Disconnect the lifting chains from the materials and lift the beam clear for the next lift.

Important:
A site-specific risk assessment and lift plan must be completed before use. All personnel involved must be competent and briefed in accordance with LOLER 1998. When using beams with cranes in tandem, refer to the requirements of BS 7121: Part 1.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before every use. Arrange thorough examination by a qualified engineer at least every 6 months when in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Remove from service if any lifting eye, attachment point or structural member shows signs of deformation, cracks or corrosion. Store upright in a clean, secure location when not in use.

Warranty & Support

All Conquip lifting beams are covered by a 12-month product warranty against defects in material or workmanship from the date of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the WLL of the craneable lifting beam?

All three lengths have a Working Load Limit of 5000kg. The weight of the beam itself must be added to the weight of the load when calculating the total load on the crane hook.

Which length should I choose?

The correct length depends on the size of the load and the spacing of its attachment points. The 3000mm beam has 6 underside lifting points, the 5000mm has 10, and the 7000mm has 12. A longer beam provides more flexibility for wider loads and more points for distributing the load evenly.

What is the maximum chain angle?

The maximum chain angle is 45ยฐ on all three variants. Do not exceed this angle during any lift.

How often does the lifting beam need to be inspected?

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months for beams in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept.
