Adjustable Lifting Beam

Up to 10,000kg WLL | 4995mm | 4 Slidable Lifting Points | Grade S355 Steel | Manufactured in the UK | Fully Certified

A fully certified adjustable lifting beam for securely transporting heavy or uneven loads by crane. Four slidable lifting points reposition along the beam to achieve even weight distribution โ€” including loads where the centre of gravity is not centrally positioned โ€” and the chains do not need adjusting for uneven loads, reducing the number of test lifts required and manual handling. Manufactured in the UK from Grade S355 British and European steel.

Key Features

  • 4 slidable lifting points can be repositioned along the beam to achieve even weight distribution across a wide variety of load configurations, including offset and uneven loads.
  • Handles on the slidable lifting points reduce the risk of injury to personnel when adjusting the beam.
  • Locking pins secure each slidable lifting point in position before lifting. Check all pins are fastened and locked before each use.
  • Up to 10,000kg WLL for the transport of heavy loads, dependent on lifting point position.
  • Reduced manual handling compared to adjusting chains for uneven loads, improving both efficiency and on-site safety.
  • Grade S355 steel construction throughout, manufactured in the UK from British and European steel.

Technical Specifications

Product Code Length Width Height Weight WLL Lifting Points
CA235AA-10000 4995mm 430mm 900mm 500kg Up to 10,000kg 4 (slidable)

The WLL is dependent on the position of the slidable lifting points. For the maximum WLL of 10,000kg, the distance between the two top lifting points must be no less than 1620mm. If the distance between the top lifting point and drop chain is between 1440mm and 1620mm, the WLL reduces to 6,000kg. The weight of the beam must be added to the weight of the load when calculating the total load on the crane hook. No single point lift is permitted.

CE Marked, UKCA Compliant & Fully Certified to All Required Lifting Standards and Regulations

This lifting beam is CE marked and UKCA compliant, manufactured to BS EN 13155:2020 and BS EN ISO 12100:2010, and fully compliant with LOLER 1998 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER 1998 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).

More About This Product

A fully certified adjustable lifting beam for securely transporting heavy or uneven loads by crane. Four slidable lifting points can be repositioned along the beam to achieve even weight distribution, including loads where the centre of gravity is not centrally positioned. The chains do not need to be adjusted for uneven loads, which reduces the number of test lifts required and manual handling. Manufactured in the UK from Grade S355 British and European steel.

Suitable Applications

The adjustable lifting beam is suited to lifts requiring a 4-point lift or where the centre of gravity is offset or not centrally positioned. Typical site applications include lifting modular pods, prefabricated plant rooms, structural steel assemblies, and other large or irregular loads by tower crane or mobile crane.

How to Use the Adjustable Lifting Beam

  1. Inspect the beam before each use. Check all lifting eyes, slidable lifting points, locking pins and structural members for damage, deformation or corrosion. Do not use if defects are found.
  2. Ensure exclusion zones are in place prior to lifting.
  3. Adjust the four slidable lifting points along the beam to align with the attachment points on the load. Lifting point positions must be mirrored and symmetrical on both ends of the beam to maintain stability.
  4. For maximum WLL of 10,000kg, ensure the distance between the two top lifting points is no less than 1620mm. Check all locking pins are fastened and locked before proceeding.
  5. Attach a suitably rated chain sling to the topside attachment points and connect to the crane hook or shackle. Ensure the crane hook gate is fully closed and secured.
  6. Attach the load to the four underside lifting points using suitably rated lifting chains and safety accessories.
  7. Confirm the total load including beam weight does not exceed the crane's rated capacity. Lift slowly, confirming balance before proceeding to full lift height.
  8. Transport to the required location and place onto stable, firm ground capable of accepting the combined load. Disconnect the lifting chains from the load and move the beam into position for the next lift.

Important:
A site-specific risk assessment and lift plan must be completed before use. All personnel involved must be competent and briefed in accordance with LOLER 1998. No single point lift is permitted.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before every use, including checking lifting eyes for wear or elongation, adjuster pins, adjuster safety pins and safety shackles. Arrange thorough examination by a qualified engineer at least every 6 months when in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Remove from service if any lifting eye, sliding lifting point or structural member shows signs of deformation, cracks or corrosion. Store in a clean, upright condition in a secure location when not in use.

Warranty & Support

All Conquip lifting beams are covered by a 12-month product warranty against defects in material or workmanship from the date of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum WLL of the adjustable lifting beam?

The maximum WLL is 10,000kg, but this is dependent on the position of the slidable lifting points. The distance between the two top lifting points must be no less than 1620mm to achieve the full 10,000kg WLL. If the distance between the top lifting point and drop chain falls between 1440mm and 1620mm, the WLL reduces to 6,000kg.

How are the lifting points adjusted?

The four lifting points slide along the beam and are repositioned before the lift to align with the load's attachment points. Each lifting point is secured with a locking pin, which must be fastened and locked before the beam is used. Lifting point positions must be mirrored and symmetrical on both ends of the beam.

What is the difference between the adjustable lifting beam and the standard craneable lifting beam?

The adjustable lifting beam has four slidable lifting points that are repositioned to suit the load, making it suitable for uneven or offset loads and 4-point lifts. It has a higher maximum WLL of 10,000kg. The standard craneable lifting beam has fixed lifting points, a 5000kg WLL, and is available in 3000mm, 5000mm and 7000mm lengths.

How often does the adjustable lifting beam need to be inspected?

A visual inspection is required before every use, including checks on lifting eyes, adjuster pins, safety pins and shackles. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months for beams in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept.
