Eichinger Forklift Extending Jib

Model 2081 | 2,500โ€“5,000kg Capacity | 7-Step Telescopic Extension 670โ€“3,665mm | Swivel Load Hook | Heel Pin Secured | CE Marked | UKCA Compliant

The Eichinger Forklift Extending Jib (Model 2081) is a heavy-duty telescopic crane arm attachment that converts a standard forklift truck or telehandler into a universal mobile crane unit, extending the reach of the machine for lifting and positioning loads in locations where no overhead crane is available. The jib extends in 7 steps from 670mm to 3,665mm and is constructed from welded and bolted section tubes for maximum strength. A pin retention system prevents the jib from unintentional slip-off from the forklift carriage. Supplied with swivel load hooks as standard. Available in two capacities: 2,500kg (2081.1) and 5,000kg (2081.2). Also see our Adjustable Extending Jib (Model 2082) which adds height adjustment up to 45ยฐ in 3 steps. Built in Germany by Florian Eichinger GmbH.

CE Marked & UKCA Compliant

This product carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and a UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market. Manufactured under DIN ISO 9001:2015 quality management and independently tested by TรœV Nord. An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit as standard.

Technical Specifications

Model Max Capacity (kg) Extension Range Steps Width Height
2081.1 2,500 670โ€“3,665mm 7 520mm 430mm
2081.2 5,000 670โ€“3,665mm 7 520mm 510mm

The load capacity varies depending on the telescopic extension position โ€” maximum capacity is achieved at the shortest extension. The lifting capacity decreases as the jib is extended. Multiple hook positions are available along the jib length, with load centres ranging from 610mm to 3,700mm. Always use in conjunction with the forklift manufacturer's data and load plates. Due to the overall length of 3,665mm, particular attention must be paid to the forklift's residual capacity at the relevant load centre.

The load ratings above represent the maximum safe working load at each load centre position along the jib. The load centre is measured from the fork heel. These ratings apply when the jib is in the horizontal position. Always cross-reference with the forklift manufacturer's load plate to confirm the machine's residual capacity at the relevant load centre.

Key Features

  • 7-step telescopic extension โ€” extends from 670mm to 3,665mm, providing flexible reach for a wide range of lifting applications without requiring multiple attachments
  • Massive section tube construction โ€” welded and bolted profile tubes provide maximum structural strength and durability under load
  • Pin retention system โ€” locking pin secures the jib directly to the forklift carriage, preventing unintentional slip-off during operation
  • Swivel load hooks supplied โ€” two rotatable swivel hooks included as standard, facilitating use with chains, slings and other lifting gear
  • Multiple hook positions โ€” hooks can be positioned at various points along the jib, with load centres ranging from 610mm to 3,700mm
  • Built-in stand โ€” integrated stand allows the jib to be stored upright when not fitted to the forklift, facilitating easy pick-up

Suitable Applications

The 2081 Extending Jib is designed for construction sites, industrial yards and workshop environments where a forklift or telehandler needs to be converted into a mobile crane to lift and position loads that cannot be handled by fork tines alone. Typical applications include lifting plant and equipment from delivery vehicles, positioning steel beams, loading materials into elevated positions, and handling awkward or oversized loads in areas with no overhead crane. The 7-step telescopic extension allows the jib to be set to the minimum length required for each lift, maximising the available lifting capacity.

How to Use the Extending Jib

  1. Check the forklift manufacturer's load plate to confirm the residual capacity at the intended load centre. The load centre varies with the telescopic extension position.
  2. Set the jib to the required telescopic extension position using the locking pin. Ensure the pin is fully engaged and secure.
  3. Position the swivel load hook at the appropriate point along the jib for the load being lifted.
  4. Drive the forklift forks into the jib's fork pockets and secure the jib to the forklift carriage using the retention pin.
  5. Attach chains, slings or lifting gear to the swivel hook. Ensure the load does not exceed the rated capacity at the selected extension position.
  6. Lift the load slowly and check for stability before transporting. Keep the load as close to the ground as practical during travel.
  7. Position the load at the delivery point and lower carefully.
  8. After use, remove the retention pin and reverse the forklift out of the jib. Store the jib on its built-in stand.

Warning: Do not drag loads with the extending jib โ€” lift loads clear of the ground only. Always ensure the retention pin is fully engaged before lifting. The lifting capacity varies with the telescopic extension position โ€” refer to the load chart for the maximum capacity at each position. Due to the 3,665mm overall length, particular attention must be paid to the forklift's stability.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the Great Britain market. Manufactured under a DIN ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system and independently tested by TรœV Nord. All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated capacity at the selected telescopic extension position โ€” refer to the load chart.
  • Always use in conjunction with the forklift manufacturer's data and load plates.
  • Always ensure the retention pin and telescopic locking pin are fully engaged before lifting.
  • Do not drag loads โ€” lift clear of the ground only.
  • At full extension (3,665mm), the load centre is significantly forward of the forklift โ€” check the forklift's residual capacity carefully.
  • Position the hook at the closest point to the forklift that allows the lift to be completed safely.
  • Do not use the jib if any locking pins are missing, damaged or cannot be fully engaged.
  • A risk assessment must be carried out prior to using this equipment.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis vest.
  • The type plate must remain present and legible at all times.

Inspection and Maintenance

The extending jib must be inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. All inspections must be documented. Pay particular attention to all weld points, the telescopic sections for wear or deformation, locking pin holes, the retention pin mechanism, swivel hooks for free rotation, and the fork pocket condition. Check for cracking, distortion, corrosion or thinning of material, particularly at stress points and telescopic overlap areas. General surface rusting should be treated with proprietary rust inhibitors, primers and paint on a regular basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the 2081 and the 2082?

The 2081 is a telescopic extending jib with 7-step length adjustment from 670mm to 3,665mm. It does not have height or angle adjustment. The 2082 adds a 3-step height adjustment function allowing the jib to be angled up to 45ยฐ, making it more suitable for lifting tall or awkward items such as roof trusses over obstacles. Both models are available in 2,500kg and 5,000kg capacities.

Q: Why does the capacity change with the extension position?

As the jib extends, the load centre moves further forward from the forklift. This increases the tipping moment on the forklift, which reduces the safe lifting capacity. The maximum capacity (2,500kg or 5,000kg) is only available at the shortest extension. At full extension, the capacity is significantly lower. Always refer to the load chart for the maximum capacity at each extension position.

Q: How do I choose between the 2081.1 and 2081.2?

The 2081.1 has a maximum capacity of 2,500kg and the 2081.2 has a maximum capacity of 5,000kg. Choose the model that matches the heaviest loads you need to lift, bearing in mind that the forklift's residual capacity must also be sufficient. The 2081.2 is physically larger (510mm height vs 430mm) to handle the greater loads. Contact WOLFF Onsite for guidance on matching the jib to your forklift.

Q: How often does the jib need to be inspected?

The jib should be visually inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Pay particular attention to the telescopic sections, locking pins and swivel hooks.
