Lifting-gear specialists in Sheffield & London — phone & email

The IFH is the simplest way to turn a forklift into an occasional crane. It slides onto the fork blade and offers two fixed lifting points at 200mm and 600mm centres, and unlike the adjustable IAH it holds full rated capacity at both. Best suited to workshops and yards where lifting is a regular but secondary task and a repeatable, fixed set-up is worth more than fine positioning.

Key Features

  • Dual fixed lifting points — two positions at 200mm and 600mm centres for flexible load handling
  • Complete lifting kit — supplied with single swivel hook and bow shackle
  • Wide capacity range — five models from 1000kg to 5000kg
  • Secure fork attachment — zinc plated heel pins for safe attachment to forklift truck
  • High-visibility finish — painted bright orange for safety

More About This Product

The Invicta Fork Mounted Hook (Model IFH) provides an economical and safe method of converting a forklift truck into a mini mobile crane. With two fixed lifting positions along the fork blade at 200mm and 600mm centres, multiple lifting configurations can be achieved for different load types. Supplied complete with a single swivel hook and bow shackle, the IFH is available in five capacities from 1000kg to 5000kg. The compact, robust design fits forks up to 150 x 50mm at 481mm centres. Manufactured in Leeds by Invicta Forks & Attachments.

Suitable Applications

The IFH is ideal for workshops, factories, construction sites and yards where occasional lifting of unpalletised loads is required. Common uses include lifting motors, generators, steel fabrications, machinery and precast concrete items.
A hook suspends the load, making the work a lifting operation. For more reach see jibs; for loads that can be carried on the tines, fork extensions.

How to Use the Fork Mounted Hook

  1. Position forks to the correct distance apart.
  2. Remove heel pins and drive forks into the fork pockets.
  3. Insert heel pins and attach safety lynch pin.
  4. Attach the load to the swivel hook and shackle.
  5. Lift vertically — do not make angular lifts.

Warning:
Always make vertical lifts only. The mast must remain vertical at all times. Do not exceed the safe working load.

Safety Information

  • Ensure heel pins are correctly inserted before every use.
  • Only make vertical lifts.
  • Do not shock load the attachment.
  • Do not exceed the safe working load.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect weekly — focus on weld points, fork pockets, heel pins, swivel hook and shackle condition. Certified for six months from manufacture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the IFH and the IAH?

The IFH has two fixed lifting points at 200mm and 600mm centres and holds its full rated capacity at both. The IAH is positioned anywhere along the fork blade for finer control. Choose the IFH for repeatable set-ups, the IAH where load position varies.

Q: How much does the IFH lift?

Models run from 1000kg to 5000kg, and each holds its rated capacity at both the 200mm and 600mm lifting points. The centre of gravity is 350mm across the range.

Q: What is supplied with the hook?

Each IFH comes complete with a single swivel hook and bow shackle. A test certificate and EC Declaration of Conformity are supplied where applicable.

Q: Does the forklift keep its rated capacity?

No. The attachment adds its own weight and moves the load further from the carriage, so the truck's rated capacity at that load centre governs the lift. Always work from the truck's capacity chart, not the attachment's.

Q: Can I lift with both hooks at once?

The IFH provides two lifting positions so you can select the one that suits the load. Use one position per lift unless the rated capacity chart supplied with the unit states otherwise.

Q: How is it secured to the forks?

The attachment slides onto the fork blade and is secured with the heel pin fitted directly behind the fork heel, with the safety lynch pin engaged. Check both before every lift.

Q: What maintenance does it need?

Inspect weekly for weld cracks, distortion, wear to the swivel hook and safety latch, and correct pin fitment. Treat surface rust promptly. Thorough examination by a competent person is required every six months under LOLER 1998.
