Eichinger Bridged Fork Mounted Hook

Model 2086 | 2,000โ€“5,000kg Capacity | Bridged Cross Beam Design | Bearing Swivel Hook | Heel Pin Secured | 600mm Load Centre | CE Marked | UKCA Compliant

The Eichinger Bridged Fork Mounted Hook (Model 2086) converts any forklift or telehandler into a simple mobile crane unit, lifting and positioning loads by chains and slings in a safe, controlled manner. The bridged cross beam design lets the hook lay flat when not in use, reducing wear to the bearing swivel hook, and heel pins secure the unit to the forklift โ€” preventing any sliding along the forks, unlike chain-retained alternatives. Available in 2,000kg (2086.2), 3,000kg (2086.3) and 5,000kg (2086.5) capacities, with 900mm overall width and 600mm load centre; built in Germany by Florian Eichinger GmbH.

Key Features

  • Bridged cross beam design โ€” the raised bridge allows the hook to lay flat on the ground when not in use, preventing damage to the bearing swivel hook and reducing wear during storage and transport
  • Heel pin retention (not chain) โ€” secured to the forklift forks by heel pins that lock behind the fork heel, preventing the attachment from sliding along the forks during lifting operations
  • Bearing swivel hook โ€” heavy-duty swivel hook rotates freely under load, allowing chains and slings to be positioned without twisting or binding
  • 600mm load centre โ€” standard load centre across all three models, consistent with typical forklift load plate ratings
  • 900mm overall width โ€” fits standard forklift fork spacings on all models
  • Three capacity options โ€” available in 2,000kg, 3,000kg and 5,000kg to match the residual capacity of the forklift truck being used

Technical Specifications

Model Capacity (kg) Overall Width Load Centre Hook Type
2086.2 2,000 900mm 600mm Bearing swivel hook
2086.3 3,000 900mm 600mm Bearing swivel hook
2086.5 5,000 900mm 600mm Bearing swivel hook

All attachments must be used in conjunction with the forklift manufacturer's data and load plates. The load capacity of the hook must not exceed the residual capacity of the forklift truck at the relevant load centre. Contact WOLFF Onsite for confirmed weights and full dimensions.

This product carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and a UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market. Manufactured under DIN ISO 9001:2015 quality management. An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit as standard.

More About This Product

The Eichinger Bridged Fork Mounted Hook (Model 2086) converts any forklift or telehandler into a simple mobile crane unit, enabling the lifting and positioning of loads by chains and slings in a safe and controlled manner. The 2086 features a bridged cross beam design which allows the hook to lay flat when not in use, reducing wear and damage to the bearing swivel hook during storage and transport. Unlike chain-retained alternatives, all Eichinger fork-mounted attachments are secured to the forklift by heel pins, preventing any possibility of the unit sliding along the forks during operation. Available in three capacities: 2,000kg (2086.2), 3,000kg (2086.3) and 5,000kg (2086.5). Overall width on all models is 900mm with a 600mm load centre. Built in Germany by Florian Eichinger GmbH.

Suitable Applications

The 2086 Bridged Fork Mounted Hook is designed for construction sites, warehouses, yards and industrial environments where a forklift or telehandler needs to be temporarily converted into a mobile crane for lifting operations. Typical applications include loading and unloading plant and equipment from delivery vehicles, positioning generators, compressors and welfare units, lifting materials in areas with no overhead crane, and general material handling where a sling or chain attachment is more practical than fork tines. The bridged design makes the 2086 particularly suited to hire fleets where the attachment is frequently stored, transported and re-deployed โ€” the bridge protects the swivel hook from ground contact damage.

How to Use the Bridged Fork Mounted Hook

  1. Check the forklift manufacturer's load plate to confirm the residual capacity at the relevant load centre. Do not exceed the lower of the hook capacity or the forklift residual capacity.
  2. Set the forklift forks to the required working width to match the attachment.
  3. Drive the forklift forks into the fork pockets on the attachment until the forks are fully inserted.
  4. Fit the heel pins behind the heel of each fork and secure them to prevent the attachment from sliding forward.
  5. Attach chains, slings or lifting gear to the bearing swivel hook. Ensure the load does not exceed the rated capacity.
  6. Lift the load slowly and check for stability before transporting. Keep the load as close to the ground as practical during travel.
  7. Position the load at the delivery point and lower carefully onto a flat, stable surface.
  8. After use, remove the heel pins and reverse the forklift out of the attachment. The bridged design allows the hook to be stored flat on the ground without damage.

Warning:
Do not drag loads with the fork mounted hook โ€” lift loads clear of the ground only. Always ensure the heel pins are fully engaged before lifting. Never exceed the rated capacity shown on the type plate or the residual capacity of the forklift truck, whichever is lower.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the Great Britain market. Manufactured under a DIN ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system. This product is certified for twelve months from the date of manufacture, after which it is the customer's responsibility to have the product re-tested by an approved inspection company or inspected by a competent person. All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated capacity as shown on the type plate.
  • Always use the hook in conjunction with the forklift manufacturer's data and load plates โ€” the residual capacity of the forklift at the relevant load centre must not be exceeded.
  • Always ensure heel pins are fully engaged before lifting any load.
  • Do not use the hook for dragging loads โ€” lift clear of the ground only.
  • Do not modify the attachment or weld additional components without manufacturer approval.
  • The swivel hook must rotate freely โ€” do not use if seized or stiff.
  • Inspect the hook and attachment before each use for wear, distortion, cracking or corrosion.
  • A risk assessment must be carried out prior to using this equipment.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis vest.
  • The type plate must remain present and legible at all times.

Inspection and Maintenance

The bridged fork mounted hook must be inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. All inspections must be documented. Pay particular attention to the bearing swivel hook for free rotation, the heel pin mechanism, all weld points, the bridged cross beam, fork pocket condition and the type plate. Check for wear, distortion, corrosion or deformation. General surface rusting, especially in critical areas, should be treated with proprietary rust inhibitors, primers and paint on a regular basis. The swivel hook bearing should be kept clean and lubricated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the 2086 bridged hook and the 2084 standard hook?

The 2086 features a bridged cross beam that raises the body of the attachment off the ground when not in use. This protects the bearing swivel hook from ground contact, reducing wear and damage during storage and transport. The 2084 standard hook does not have this bridged design. Both models are secured by heel pins and function identically during lifting operations.

Q: How do I choose the right capacity?

The capacity of the hook must not exceed the residual capacity of your forklift truck at the relevant load centre (600mm on all 2086 models). Check your forklift's load plate โ€” the maximum weight the hook can lift is the lower of the hook's rated capacity and the forklift's residual capacity at 600mm load centre. If in doubt, contact WOLFF Onsite for guidance.

Q: Why are the forks secured by heel pins rather than chains?

Heel pin retention provides a positive mechanical lock between the attachment and the fork tines. Unlike chain retention, heel pins prevent the attachment from sliding forward along the forks during lifting, which could alter the load centre and destabilise the forklift. All Eichinger fork-mounted attachments use heel pin retention as standard.

Q: How often does the hook need to be inspected?

The hook should be visually inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Pay particular attention to the swivel hook bearing, heel pins, weld points and overall structural condition.
