The GBW is Pramac's compact professional diesel range: start-up and load acceptance in seconds, in a set small enough to install where a full industrial machine will not go. Four models cover 15kVA and 22kVA in single and three phase, on Yanmar and Perkins Stage V engines. All are supplied with a manual control panel, and the socket arrangement differs by model — the 400V versions carry a standard socket kit while the 230V versions are supplied with power cables connecting to the circuit breaker for hard wiring.
Emissions Compliance
Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

Key Features
- Rapid start and load acceptance — designed to start and take load in seconds, which is what a standby or backup set has to do.
- Stage V certified — current non-road emissions compliance on all four models, including the Perkins 404J-22G and both Yanmar units.
- Compact for the output — 1645 x 870mm footprint on a 22kVA set, which fits plant rooms and compounds that a larger industrial machine will not.
- Yanmar and Perkins engines — both widely supported in the UK, with parts and service available through established networks.
- Single and three phase — 230V single phase for general and standby use, 400V three phase for motors, pumps and three-phase distribution.
- Socket kit or hard wiring — 400V models come with a full CEE socket kit; 230V models are supplied with power cables to the circuit breaker for fixed connection.
Suitable Applications
The GBW suits standby and prime power for small commercial premises, agricultural buildings, workshops, telecoms and remote installations, and hire fleets needing a compact fixed-output set. The 230V models with power cables to the circuit breaker are aimed at permanent hard-wired installation; the 400V models with socket kits suit temporary distribution and hire. Note these are manual control panel sets — for automatic mains failure operation, the GDW range with an automatic control panel is the correct specification.
How to Use
- Site on firm level ground or a designed base, in the open air with clearance for cooling and exhaust.
- For 230V models, arrange hard wiring to the circuit breaker by a qualified electrician.
- Check engine oil, coolant and fuel before starting.
- Confirm connected load is within rating, allowing for motor starting currents.
- Start manually at the control panel and allow to stabilise before applying load.
- Shed load before shutdown and allow the set to cool before refuelling.
Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal.
Safety Information
- Operate only in the open air, well clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
- Never refuel a hot or running engine.
- Do not connect to a building's fixed wiring without a correctly specified changeover arrangement.
- Use only leads and connectors rated for the outlet, inspected before each use.
- Keep fuel and flammables away from the exhaust and hot surfaces.
- Earth the set in accordance with the site electrical arrangement.
- These are manual start sets. Do not assume the machine will start itself on loss of mains — it will not.
Inspection and Maintenance
Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime. Follow the Yanmar or Perkins service schedule by running hours. As a standby set, exercise it under load on a regular schedule rather than leaving it standing between outages.
What's Included

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the GBW start automatically?
No. All four models are supplied with a manual control panel. For automatic mains failure operation, specify a GDW with an automatic control panel.
Q: What is the difference between the 230V and 400V models?
Phase and connection. 230V single phase models come with power cables for hard wiring to the circuit breaker; 400V three phase models come with a full CEE socket kit for distribution or hire use.
Q: Yanmar or Perkins?
The 15Y and 22Y are Yanmar, the 22P is Perkins. Both are well supported in the UK. Choose on whichever your service provider prefers, or on parts availability locally.
Q: Is it Stage V compliant?
Yes, all four models. That is required on many local authority and principal contractor sites.
