The BESS range stores energy from generators, solar or the grid and gives it back silently, with no engine, no fuel and no emissions at the point of use. Ten models run from a 5kVA/9.6kWh single-phase SX up to a 90kVA/144kWh three-phase LX Plus. All use lithium iron phosphate cells, all are supplied with the UK socket panel, and all include MPPT so solar panels can feed the battery directly. On a hybrid site the battery carries the load overnight and through light periods while the generator runs only when it needs to — which is where the fuel and noise savings come from.

Emissions Compliance

Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

HUK is the panel with electrical sockets for the United Kingdom. MPPT is the Maximum Power Point Tracker for solar input. Prices for the SX Plus 5/25 and SX Plus 10/40 are blank on the 2026 price list — confirm with Pramac.

Key Features

  • Silent and emission free in use — runs where a generator cannot: overnight on residential streets, indoors, in tunnels, and on sites under noise or air quality conditions.
  • Hybrid operation with a generator — the battery carries the load through light periods and the generator runs only to recharge, cutting fuel burn, running hours and servicing.
  • LFP chemistry — lithium iron phosphate is more thermally stable and longer lived than standard lithium-ion, which matters in equipment left on site.
  • MPPT solar input on every model — panels connect directly, so a site with solar can charge the battery without a separate controller.
  • UK socket panel as standard — the HUK panel is fitted across the range, so no adaptation is needed on arrival.
  • 5kVA to 90kVA across ten models — from a welfare unit or small site office up to substantial temporary distribution.

Suitable Applications

BESS units are specified where noise, emissions or fuel cost rule against running a generator continuously: urban construction under noise conditions, events, film and broadcast, welfare units and site offices, rail and tunnel work, and any site with a low emission zone requirement. The commercial case is usually hybrid — pairing a battery with a smaller generator that runs a few hours a day instead of a larger one running constantly. Sizing needs the actual load profile over 24 hours rather than a peak figure, so treat it as a design exercise.

How to Use

  1. Size against the 24 hour load profile, not the peak demand — capacity in kWh matters as much as output in kVA.
  2. Site on firm level ground with the clearances specified by the manufacturer.
  3. Connect the charging source: generator, mains or solar through the MPPT input.
  4. Connect loads at the UK socket panel using correctly rated leads.
  5. Monitor state of charge and set the generator run schedule to recharge before depletion.
  6. In hybrid operation, confirm the generator and battery are correctly configured to work together.

Warning: Lithium batteries must not be operated or charged if the unit is damaged, deformed or overheating. Isolate and contact the supplier rather than attempting to investigate a fault in a high-voltage battery system.

Safety Information

  • Only trained personnel should connect, configure or service a battery energy storage system.
  • Do not open the enclosure; these are high voltage systems.
  • Keep the unit clear of ignition sources and do not cover the ventilation.
  • Isolate before any work on connected distribution.
  • Follow the manufacturer's guidance on state of charge for storage and transport.
  • Report any damage, swelling or unusual heat immediately and stop using the unit.

Inspection and Maintenance

BESS units need little routine maintenance compared with a generator, which is much of their appeal, but they should be inspected for physical damage, kept ventilated and clean, and not stored fully discharged for long periods. Keep the firmware and configuration current through the supplier. The electrical installation and any connected distribution remain subject to the Electricity at Work Regulations and to normal inspection and test.

What's Included

  • BESS unit in the capacity and output ordered
  • UK socket panel (HUK) fitted
  • MPPT solar input fitted
  • Operator and commissioning documentation
  • Solar panels, generator and site distribution are NOT included

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I size a BESS?

On the 24 hour energy profile in kWh, not just the peak load in kVA. A site drawing 3kW for 16 hours needs 48kWh regardless of how small the peak is. Get the profile measured rather than estimated.

Q: Can it replace a generator entirely?

On a light, predictable load with a way to recharge — mains or solar — yes. On most sites the practical answer is hybrid: battery plus a smaller generator running a few hours a day to recharge.

Q: What does MPPT give me?

Maximum Power Point Tracking optimises the output from connected solar panels as light conditions change, so panels can charge the battery directly and efficiently.

Q: Why LFP rather than standard lithium-ion?

Lithium iron phosphate is more thermally stable, tolerates more cycles and degrades more slowly. For equipment left on site for months, that is the right trade against slightly lower energy density.
