WLL figures stated for straight vertical lift. Always consult the product documentation for rated capacity at the sling configuration and angle being used.

Key Features

  • Self-locking hooks provide secure engagement at the lift point, reducing the risk of accidental disengagement during the lift.
  • Double self-locking hook option provides hooks at both ends of the chain leg for rigging configurations requiring attachment at both ends.
  • Double self-locking hook with shortener allows the working length of the chain to be reduced on site by hooking back onto a chain link.
  • Grade 8 chain provides high-tensile construction throughout.
  • 1000mm working length across all variants.
  • Manufactured in the UK for quality assurance.

Suitable Applications

The single-leg chain sling is used where a load has a single overhead lift point, or as one leg within a multi-leg rigging arrangement. Typical site applications include lifting individual items of plant, equipment, skips and lifting beams by tower crane or mobile crane.

How to Use the Single-Leg Chain Sling

  1. Inspect the sling before each use. Check the chain, hook and master link for wear, deformation, cracks or corrosion. Do not use if defects are found.
  2. Confirm the weight of the load does not exceed the WLL of the sling at the angle of use.
  3. Attach the master link end to the crane hook or shackle, ensuring the crane hook gate is fully closed and secured.
  4. Attach the self-locking hook to the designated lift point on the load. Confirm the hook is fully engaged and the self-locking mechanism is activated.
  5. If using the shortener variant, adjust the working length as required before lifting.
  6. Lift slowly, confirming load stability before proceeding to full lift height.

Important: All lifting operations must be planned and supervised by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. Chain slings must be thoroughly examined at regular intervals and records kept.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before every use and arrange thorough examination by a competent person at least every 6 months when in regular use. Remove from service if any chain link, hook or master link shows signs of deformation, elongation, cracks, corrosion or reduced cross-section. Store in a dry location away from chemicals, moisture and sharp edges.

Warranty

All Conquip chain slings are covered by a 12-month product warranty against defects in material or workmanship from the date of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the self-locking hook and the double self-locking hook?

The self-locking hook has one hook at the working end of the chain with a master link at the top. The double self-locking hook has hooks at both ends of the chain leg for rigging configurations where both ends need to attach to load or crane points.

What does the shortener do?

The shortener allows the working length of the chain to be reduced by hooking back onto a chain link. This is useful when the full 1000mm is more than required or when fine-tuning the height of a lift. The shortener is included on the Double Self-Locking Hook & Shortener variant only.

How often does the chain sling need to be inspected?

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a competent person is required at least every 6 months for slings in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept.
