The Steerman S60F is the 30t steerable front section from the Steerman SX/S range. The front module incorporates a load platform with a central turntable on an amply dimensioned axial ball bearing, allowing easy steering of the load via the supplied long handle (removable for storage and transport). It runs on twin rollers of abrasion-resistant elastic polyamide with universal joint suspension for positive contact on uneven floors, pairing with the matching S60R rear section to make up the complete S60 system — or sold separately for bespoke configurations and replacement.

Key Features

  • Steerable turntable platform — central turntable on amply dimensioned axial ball bearing gives precise directional control of the load
  • Removable steering handle — long handle supplied; detaches for storage and transport
  • Twin polyamide rollers — low rolling resistance even at narrow curve radius; high chemical resistance; won't damage normal floor coverings
  • Universal joint roller suspension — positive contact when crossing slightly uneven floors
  • 30t front capacity — sized to take the front-distributed share of the S60 system load
  • Modular system component — pairs with S60R rear or other compatible Steerman SX/S components

European Manufactured | CE Compliant

This product is manufactured to European standards by Yale Industrial Products, part of the Columbus McKinnon group. All units are supplied with a CE Declaration of Conformity. Load moving skates are classed as work equipment under PUWER 1998. Regular visual inspection is required before every use, with periodic thorough examination by a competent person in line with site safety policy and any applicable insurance requirements.

Suitable Applications

The S60F is the directional-control half of a Steerman SX/S system. Used with the matching S60R rear, it suits professional industrial moves — machine installations, plant relocation, construction work and any application where heavy industrial loads need full operator-controlled steering. Sold individually for replacement of a damaged front, expanding an existing rear-only stock, or building a bespoke high-capacity configuration.

How to Use the Front Section

  1. Confirm the 30t front capacity is suitable for the front-distributed share of the intended load.
  2. Position the S60R rear section under the rear of the load first using rated jacking equipment.
  3. Position the S60F front section under the front of the load with the turntable centred under the load contact area.
  4. Lower the load fully onto both sections and confirm stable contact across all rollers.
  5. Attach the supplied steering handle to the turntable.
  6. Move the load slowly using the handle, keeping personnel clear of the rolling path.

Warning:
Do not exceed the 30t rated front capacity. The matched rear must be present and rated to take the balance of the load.

Safety Information

  • Always pair the front section with the matching S60R rear at the correct capacity.
  • Inspect the turntable, axial ball bearing, rollers and steering handle attachment before each use.
  • Confirm rollers are free of cuts, embedded debris and flat-spots.
  • Use the handle to pull rather than push wherever practical.
  • Refer to the operating manual for full pre-use checks.

Inspection and Maintenance

Maintenance-free in normal use. Inspect weekly with attention to the axial ball bearing free movement, roller polyamide condition, steering handle attachment and frame weld points. Replace worn rollers and damaged components using genuine Steerman spare parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use any rear section with the S60F?

Steerman SX/S components are universally combinable so long as capacities are matched. The S60F is the standard pairing for the S60R rear, making up the S60 complete system. For higher capacities, additional matched components can be combined per the modular concept.

Q: Why is the front rated lower than the complete system?

In a typical three-point setup the front section takes approximately 50% of the total load and the rear pair takes the balance. The S60F front is rated for that front share — the matching S60R rear is rated for the rest.

Q: Can I order the complete S60 system instead?

Yes — the S60 complete system is the matched front-and-rear package and is typically the cost-effective option if you need both halves. Individual unit purchases suit replacements or bespoke higher-capacity builds.
