Yale Height Safety Restraint Kit CMHYP01

Model CMHYP01 | Restraint Kit | Harness, Restraint Lanyard and Storage Bag | EN 361 and EN 358 Compliant | CMCO Group Manufacture

The Yale CMHYP01 Restraint Kit provides a complete restraint solution in one package โ€” Yale full body harness, Yale restraint lanyard, and a heavy-duty storage bag for safekeeping between uses. Restraint kits prevent the user from reaching a fall hazard rather than arresting a fall after it has begun, making them the preferred choice for working at height in environments where the work area can be clearly defined. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate.

CMCO Group | EN ISO 9001 Certified | EN 361 and EN 358 Compliant | CE Marked

Kit components are manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale and Tigrip lifting brands. All components conform to the relevant European standards as listed in the kit contents. Each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person for all components in the kit.

Technical Specifications

Model Part Number Type Contents Use
CMHYP01 N37420001A Restraint Kit Harness + Restraint Lanyard + Bag Restraint at height

Typical contents include a Yale full body harness, a Yale restraint lanyard with screw gate snap hooks, and a heavy-duty Yale storage bag. Contact us for the specific component models in the current kit specification.

Key Features

  • Complete restraint solution โ€” harness, lanyard, and storage bag in a single package โ€” ready to use out of the bag
  • Yale full body harness โ€” EN 361 compliant fall arrest harness, suitable for restraint use
  • Yale restraint lanyard โ€” EN 354 and EN 358 compliant for restraint use, screw gate snap hook end-connectors
  • Heavy-duty storage bag โ€” protects the kit between uses, keeps components together and clean
  • Cost-effective bundle โ€” buying the kit is more cost-effective than the components separately
  • Quick to deploy โ€” no separate sourcing of components, everything required is in the bag
  • Test certificates included โ€” each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate

Suitable Applications

Suited to flat roof working, work near defined edges, scaffold platform working, plant rooms, and any task at height where the work area can be defined and the user can be prevented from reaching the fall hazard. Where the user must work right at the edge or in unpredictable areas, a fall arrest kit (Basic, Scaffolders, or Construction) should be specified instead.

How to Use the Restraint Kit

  1. Open the storage bag and inspect every component visually before use.
  2. Plan the work area โ€” measure the distance from the anchor to the fall hazard. The restraint lanyard length must be shorter than this distance.
  3. Fit the harness following the manufacturer's instructions, adjusting all straps for a snug, secure fit.
  4. Verify the anchor point is certified to a minimum of 12 kN.
  5. Connect the restraint lanyard between the harness attachment point and the anchor.
  6. Verify the restraint works in practice โ€” walk out to the limit of the lanyard, confirm the user cannot reach the fall hazard.
  7. Proceed with the working task.
  8. On completion, repack the kit into the storage bag for the next use.

Warning: A restraint kit does not arrest a fall โ€” it prevents one. If there is any possibility the user could reach the fall hazard, a fall arrest kit must be used instead. Always verify the restraint works in practice before commencing work.

Safety Information

  • Inspect every kit component visually before each use.
  • Verify all components are compatible and present before commencing work at height.
  • Train all users in the correct fitting and use of the kit before authorising use.
  • Never use any kit component that has arrested a fall โ€” withdraw the affected component from service.
  • Always attach to certified anchor points rated to a minimum of 12 kN.
  • Store the kit in the supplied bag in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and chemicals.
  • Replace any individual component as required โ€” kits can be re-built with replacement components.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect each component of the kit before every use. Components may have different service life and inspection intervals โ€” refer to each component's operating manual for the specific requirements. A competent person thorough examination is required at least every 6 months for all components. Replace components as they reach end of service life or fail inspection. The storage bag protects components between uses; do not store wet equipment in a sealed bag, allow to air-dry first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is included in the CMHYP01 kit?

Typical contents include a Yale full body harness, a Yale restraint lanyard, and a heavy-duty Yale storage bag. The specific component models may vary between production batches โ€” contact us if you need to confirm the contents of the current kit.

Q: What is the difference between restraint and fall arrest?

Restraint prevents the user from reaching a fall hazard. Fall arrest stops the user after a fall has begun. Restraint is the preferred control measure in the working at height hierarchy where it is possible to define the work area.

Q: Can I use this kit for fall arrest?

The harness in the kit is suitable for fall arrest, but the restraint lanyard does not include an energy absorber and is not designed for fall arrest. For fall arrest you need a fall arrest lanyard, available separately or as part of the Basic, Scaffolders, or Construction kits.

Q: Are the components serviced as a kit or individually?

Each component is inspected and serviced individually. Components have their own thorough examination records and may reach end of service life at different times.

Q: Can I replace individual components?

Yes. Any individual component can be replaced with an equivalent Yale component as needed.

Q: Is this kit suitable for confined space work?

No. Confined space work typically requires a rescue harness and a rescue retrieval system (tripod and winch). See the CMHYP05 Crane Maintenance Kit and the Yale rescue harness and tripod ranges.

Q: How often must the kit be inspected?

Pre-use inspection by the operator, thorough examination by a competent person every 6 months, for every component in the kit.
