Key Features

  • Standard width fork pockets reduce the need for fork adjustment.
  • Side entry fork pockets for improved manoeuvrability in tight site areas.
  • Easy-action tipping mechanism with safety restraint chain supplied as standard.
  • Narrow 500 litre design fits through standard internal doorways.
  • Cranelift versions include lifting points for use with a tower crane or mobile crane.
  • Optional castor wheels allow operatives to move the skip short distances by hand.
  • Optional secondary locking device for added security during transit.
  • Available in Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) standard colours for waste segregation.

Suitable Applications

The Forklift Tipping Skip is well-suited to housebuilding, refurbishment, fit-out and general construction where waste needs to be moved efficiently around site or transferred into roll-on/roll-off skips. The compact 500 litre model is ideal for internal use during refit and remediation works, while the 1200 and 1500 litre models handle higher volumes of muck, rubble or general waste in open site conditions. Cranelift versions extend usability to multi-level structures where a forklift cannot reach.

How to Use

  1. Position the skip in the loading area and fill with waste materials.
  2. Engage the forklift or telehandler forks fully into the side-entry fork pockets.
  3. Secure the safety restraint chain before lifting.
  4. Manoeuvre the skip to the emptying location, typically a roll-on/roll-off skip.
  5. Pull the release lever to allow the skip to tilt forward and tip the contents.
  6. Return the skip to its upright position and reset the locking mechanism.

Warning: Always carry out a pre-use inspection, follow the operator manual, and never exceed the working load limit (WLL) shown for the model in use. Cranelift models must only be used with appropriately rated lifting equipment by competent personnel.

Safety Information

  • Never lift personnel on or in the skip.
  • Inspect the skip, fork pockets, lifting points and safety chain before each use.
  • Operators must hold appropriate forklift, telehandler or crane certification.
  • Do not exceed the published WLL or capacity for the chosen model.
  • Keep ground personnel clear during lifting and tipping operations.
  • Engage the locking mechanism after each tip cycle to prevent unintended movement.
  • When using castor-equipped models, ensure ground conditions are firm and level before manual movement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the tipping skip work?

The skip is filled in position, then transported to the emptying location using a forklift or telehandler. Pulling the release lever allows the skip to tilt forward, tipping the contents into a roll-on/roll-off skip or designated waste area. Once empty, the skip rights itself and the locking mechanism is reset for the next cycle.

Q: Will the 500 litre skip fit through internal doorways?

Yes. The 500 litre model is designed to pass through standard width internal doorways at 740 mm wide, making it well-suited to refit, refurbishment and fit-out projects.

Q: Can the skip be moved without a forklift?

Yes. Models supplied with optional castor wheels can be moved short distances by hand around site by trained operatives.

Q: What is the difference between Standard and Cranelift versions?

Standard models are designed for forklift and telehandler handling only. Cranelift models include additional lifting points so the skip can be used with a tower crane or mobile crane, allowing waste to be moved between site levels or in areas a forklift cannot access.

Q: What colours are available?

Skips can be supplied painted in Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) standard colours for clear on-site waste segregation, helping to support environmental compliance and waste reporting.
