The Conquip Heavy-Duty Boat Skip is built for moving substantial volumes of spoil, muck and bulk waste around large sites by crane. A robust frame with reinforced wear strips on the base and rear extends service life under heavy use, while a slotted bale arm with hook-and-latch release allows the crane operator to discharge the skip without ground operatives entering the discharge zone.

Key Features

Slotted bale arm with hook-and-latch self-discharge mechanism for crane-only emptying.
Reinforced wear strips on the base and rear of the unit increase durability under bulk loading.
Lifts and tips part loads, which is not possible with traditional manually-operated muck skips.
Drop-down bale arm and low loading height for fast filling.
Available in 2000, 3000, 4000 and 6000 litre capacities for bulk excavation and large muck-away operations.
Optional debris cover available to reduce dust pollution and material loss during transport.

Suitable Applications

The Heavy-Duty Boat Skip is intended for sites moving substantial volumes of muck, spoil or general waste — bulk excavation, basement digs, large slab pours and infrastructure projects. The 2000 to 4000 litre sizes cover most heavy muck-away applications, while the 6000 litre size handles the largest spoil volumes where crane capacity and ground access permit. For lighter day-to-day waste handling, the standard Boat Skip range is more appropriate.
Waste skips tip. Where a pour must be placed accurately through a controlled gate, a concrete skip is the right tool. Check the loaded weight against the crane chart rather than sizing on volume.

How to Use

Position the skip in a stable, level location with the bale arm dropped for filling.
Load evenly within the published capacity and WLL, taking care not to overload at one end.
Raise the bale arm and attach the crane hook to the lifting point.
The slinger and banksman confirm the lift is balanced and guide it to the discharge area.
Position the skip over the discharge zone, clear of all ground personnel.
The crane operator activates the hook-and-latch release, allowing the skip to self-tip.
Return the skip to the loading area and reset the locking catches before reuse.

Warning:
Heavy-duty boat skips are large and the loaded weight at full capacity is significant. Confirm crane capacity at the working radius before the lift. Never lift personnel on or in the skip. Always use a trained slinger and banksman.

Safety Information

Inspect the skip body, bale arm, hook-and-latch mechanism, lifting point and shackles before each lift.
The crane operator, slinger and banksman must hold appropriate certification.
Confirm crane capacity at the lift radius — loaded weights at 4000 and 6000 litre capacities are substantial.
Keep ground personnel clear of the discharge zone during emptying.
Do not exceed the published WLL or capacity for the size in use.
Reset the locking catches after each tip cycle to prevent unintended discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes this Boat Skip heavy-duty?

The unit has reinforced wear strips on the base and sides, along with a heavier-gauge frame and bale arm. Capacities run from 2000 to 6000 litres, making it suited to bulk excavation and high-volume muck-away work where standard skips would wear out quickly.

Q: How does the self-discharge mechanism work?

A slotted bale arm engages with a hook-and-latch on the lifting point. When the crane lifts, the geometry triggers the latch and the skip tips forward, discharging the contents without ground operatives needing to operate a release.

Q: Can I reduce dust pollution from skip contents?

Yes. A debris cover is available on request to keep contents contained and reduce airborne dust during transport.

Q: What crane capacity do I need?

Confirm with your lifting plan. As a starting point, the 2000 litre size weighs 626 kg empty and the 6000 litre size weighs 1523 kg empty, with full loaded weights significantly higher. Lift radius and ground conditions should be assessed before selecting a crane.

Q: When should I choose this over the standard Boat Skip?

Choose the Heavy-Duty range for bulk excavation, basement digs, large slab pours and infrastructure muck-away. For everyday fit-out, refurbishment and lighter site clearance, the standard Boat Skip is the right choice.
