The E Series is Pramac's entry professional generator: an open-frame petrol set built around Honda GX engines, designed to deliver a high performance level at an attractive price. Four outputs cover 2.50kVA to 6.08kVA continuous, and each is offered in 230V/110V dual voltage or 110V CTE for UK construction. It is a simple, powerful and easily maintained machine rather than a refined one, which is exactly what suits a site tool, a hire fleet or a standby set that must start reliably after standing idle.

Emissions Compliance

Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

Alternators are class H insulated, IP23, two pole, with capacitor voltage regulation. All models are recoil start.

Key Features

  • Honda GX engines throughout — GX160, GX200, GX270 and GX390 — the industry reference for small petrol plant, with parts and service available everywhere.
  • 110V CTE versions — the GH-coded models give 110V centre-tapped supply only, which is what UK construction requires for hand tools.
  • Light for the output — the E4000 is 36kg and the E3250 38kg, both liftable by one person, which matters for a set moved daily.
  • Low fuel consumption — 0.88 l/h at 75% load on the E3250, giving a useful working day from a 3.1 litre tank.
  • Class H insulation, IP23 — a specification aimed at working plant rather than occasional domestic use.
  • Stage V certified — meets the current non-road emissions standard, so the set is not refused on compliant sites.

Suitable Applications

The E Series suits general construction, groundworks, hire fleets, agriculture, market and event traders, and emergency standby where the set may stand for months and must start on demand. Choose the 110V CTE models for UK site work with 110V tools; choose 230V/110V dual voltage where the same set has to run both site tools and domestic-voltage equipment. Where run time between refuelling matters more than purchase price, the ES Series gives the same outputs on an 11 litre tank. Where the set will run for long periods daily, the S Series adds electric start and a much larger tank.

How to Use

  1. Site the generator on firm level ground in the open air with clearance for cooling airflow and exhaust.
  2. Check engine oil and fuel levels before starting.
  3. Confirm the total connected load is within the rating, allowing headroom for motor starting currents.
  4. Start the engine and let it stabilise before applying load.
  5. Connect loads at the socket panel using correctly rated leads.
  6. Shed the load before shutting down, then stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling.

Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal.

Safety Information

  • Operate only in the open air, well clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
  • Never refuel a hot or running engine.
  • Do not connect to a building's fixed wiring without a correctly specified changeover arrangement.
  • Use only leads and connectors rated for the outlet, inspected before each use.
  • Keep fuel and flammables away from the exhaust and hot surfaces.
  • Earth the set in accordance with the site electrical arrangement.

Inspection and Maintenance

Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime.

What's Included

  • E Series generator in the model and voltage ordered
  • Operator manual and engine documentation
  • Trolley kit (PY000A000BB) is a separate option

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the E and ES Series?

Both use the same Honda engines and give similar outputs. The ES Series has a long-run 11 litre tank against the E Series 3.1 to 6.5 litres, so it runs far longer between refills. The E Series is lighter and cheaper.

Q: What does 110V CTE mean?

Centre Tapped to Earth: a 110V supply with 55V either side of earth, which is the standard for hand tools on UK construction sites because it limits shock severity. The GH-coded E Series models supply 110V only.

Q: Are these Stage V compliant?

Yes. All models in the range are Stage V certified, which is required by many local authorities, London construction zones and principal contractors.

Q: Can I use one for home standby?

It will run appliances through extension leads, but it is a manual-start open-frame set with no automatic transfer. For a home standby installation, the PMD diesel or GA gas standby ranges are designed for that duty.
