The ES Series takes the E Series engine and alternator package and puts it on an 11 litre long-run tank. That single change is the whole point of the range: an ES3000 runs 12.5 hours at 75% load where the equivalent E Series runs a fraction of that. On a site where refuelling means stopping work, walking to a can and coming back, the difference is measured in productive hours rather than litres. Single and three phase versions are available, and the 8000 models add automatic voltage regulation for sensitive loads.

Emissions Compliance

Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

ES8000 models in both single and three phase are supplied with AVR (automatic voltage regulation).

Key Features

  • 11 litre long-run tank — the defining feature: 12.5 hours at 75% load on the ES3000, so a full working day without refuelling.
  • Honda GX engines — the same GX160 to GX390 range as the E Series, with the same parts availability.
  • Three phase options — the ES5000 and ES8000 are available in 400V three phase for pumps, compressors and small three-phase machinery.
  • AVR on the 8000 models — automatic voltage regulation holds output steady regardless of engine speed variation and load, which matters for electronics and welding.
  • Compact footprint for the tank size — 623 x 409mm on the ES3000 and ES4000, no larger than many short-run sets.
  • Stage V certified — current emissions compliance across the range.

Suitable Applications

Specify the ES Series where the generator runs all day and refuelling interrupts work: construction and groundworks, outdoor events, film and location work, agricultural tasks, and standby for small commercial premises. The three-phase models suit temporary distribution and three-phase plant. The 8000 models with AVR are the choice where sensitive electronics or welding equipment is being powered. Where the set only runs intermittently, the E Series costs less; where you want electric start and a wheel kit as standard, look at the S Series.

How to Use

  1. Site the generator on firm level ground in the open air with clearance for cooling airflow and exhaust.
  2. Check engine oil and fuel levels before starting.
  3. Confirm the total connected load is within the rating, allowing headroom for motor starting currents.
  4. Start the engine and let it stabilise before applying load.
  5. Connect loads at the socket panel using correctly rated leads.
  6. Shed the load before shutting down, then stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling.

Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal.

Safety Information

  • Operate only in the open air, well clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
  • Never refuel a hot or running engine.
  • Do not connect to a building's fixed wiring without a correctly specified changeover arrangement.
  • Use only leads and connectors rated for the outlet, inspected before each use.
  • Keep fuel and flammables away from the exhaust and hot surfaces.
  • Earth the set in accordance with the site electrical arrangement.

Inspection and Maintenance

Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime.

What's Included

  • ES Series generator with 11 litre long run tank
  • Operator manual and engine documentation
  • Trolley kit (PY000A000BB) is a separate option

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long will an ES Series run on a tank?

From 5.09 hours on the ES8000 to 12.5 hours on the ES3000, both at 75% load. Lighter loading extends that considerably.

Q: What does AVR give me?

Automatic Voltage Regulation holds output voltage steady despite engine speed variation, load changes and temperature. It is recommended where you are powering electronic devices, and it is fitted to the ES8000 models.

Q: Single or three phase?

Three phase only if you are running genuinely three-phase equipment. A three-phase set delivers less power per phase, so for single-phase loads a single-phase generator gives more usable output for the money.

Q: Are they electric start?

No, the ES Series is recoil start. For electric start with a wheel kit as standard, the S Series is the range.
