The GPW is Pramac's mobile diesel line built specifically for the rental business, and the specification reflects that. Every model comes on a galvanised skid base with forklift pockets, rubber bumpers, an earth rod kit, quick-fit fuel connectors and a document holder — the details that matter when a machine is moved between sites weekly and handled by people who did not buy it. All five carry the DSE890 MKII gateway for 4G and Ethernet remote monitoring, so a hire fleet can see fuel level, runtime and faults without sending anyone.
Emissions Compliance
Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

Common configuration: PHS pre-heating, WSP water separator filter, CDP coolant draining pipe, LPT leak-proof tray, TWF three-way fuel valve, QFC quick fit fuel connectors, GSB galvanised skid base with forklift pockets, BRB baseframe rubber bumpers, GDH document holder, RGW2 DSE890 MKII gateway, RSS remote start/stop, ERK earth rod kit, ADI adjustable differential protection, MBS manual battery switch, BAT starting battery.
Key Features
- Built for rental, not adapted for it — galvanised skid base, forklift pockets, rubber bumpers, document holder and earth rod kit are standard because hire fleets need them.
- DSE890 MKII remote monitoring — 4G and Ethernet gateway giving fuel level, runtime, location and fault data without a site visit — the single biggest cost saver in a hire fleet.
- Quick fit fuel connectors — refuelling from a bowser without spillage, which matters on a site with environmental conditions.
- Leak-proof tray as standard — contains fuel and oil spillage, normally a requirement on environmentally sensitive sites.
- Adjustable differential protection — the ADI setting allows the protection to be matched to the site distribution rather than being fixed.
- Stage V across the range — all five models are FS5 Stage V, so they are not refused on compliant sites.
Suitable Applications
The GPW is specified by hire companies and contractors running their own fleets: construction site power, temporary distribution, events, utilities and emergency response. The remote monitoring changes the economics of hire — fuel runs and fault call-outs can be planned rather than reactive. Choose the output against the connected load with headroom for motor starting. Where the duty is heavier or the sets need to run in parallel, the GRW range is the heavy-duty line above this one.
How to Use
- Site the generator on firm level ground in the open air with clearance for cooling airflow and exhaust.
- Check engine oil and fuel levels before starting.
- Confirm the total connected load is within the rating, allowing headroom for motor starting currents.
- Start the engine and let it stabilise before applying load.
- Connect loads at the socket panel using correctly rated leads.
- Shed the load before shutting down, then stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling.
Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal.
Safety Information
- Operate only in the open air, well clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
- Never refuel a hot or running engine.
- Do not connect to a building's fixed wiring without a correctly specified changeover arrangement.
- Use only leads and connectors rated for the outlet, inspected before each use.
- Keep fuel and flammables away from the exhaust and hot surfaces.
- Earth the set in accordance with the site electrical arrangement.
- Deploy the earth rod kit in accordance with the site earthing arrangement before connecting loads.
Inspection and Maintenance
Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime. On a hire fleet, use the DSE890 gateway data to plan servicing by actual running hours rather than by calendar. Check the leak-proof tray at every service and after any spillage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does the DSE890 gateway do?
It reports fuel level, running hours, location and fault codes over 4G or Ethernet. For a hire fleet that means planning fuel runs and service visits instead of reacting to calls.
Q: Why a galvanised skid base?
Because hire sets get dragged, forked and left standing in yards. Galvanising plus forklift pockets and rubber bumpers is what keeps a machine presentable and functional over years of that.
Q: GPW or GRW?
GPW is the standard rental line at 20-100kVA. GRW is the heavy-duty line, going to 300kVA with a different configuration aimed at more demanding duty.
Q: Are they towable?
These are skid-mounted sets designed for moving by forklift or crane. For road towing, confirm the specific trailer options with Pramac.
