Camlok YC Standard Beam Clamp (Suspension Point Only)

Model YC | Capacity 1,000 โ€“ 10,000 kg | Suspension Point ONLY โ€” NOT for Lifting per Manufacturer Safety Notice | Central Threaded Spindle | Camlok Branded | Made in UK

The Camlok YC is a standard beam clamp used as a suspension point only.

Key Features

  • Wide flange adjustment range: One YC body covers a wide range โ€” fewer SKUs across varied beam stock.
  • Central threaded spindle: Easy attachment with a single tool. Spindle securable against loosening.
  • Five capacities from 1 to 10 t: Covers full common range of rigging anchor and clamp applications.
  • Suspension point only: The YC is a suspension/anchor point for hoists and pulleys. It is NOT a lifting clamp and must not be used to directly grip and lift loads.
  • Black forged finish: Robust forged steel with industrial black coating for durability and visibility.
  • Lightweight relative to capacity: YC 1 at 3.4 kg easy to carry, store and deploy.

CE & UKCA Marked | LOLER Ready | Suspension Point ONLY โ€” NOT for Direct Load Lifting

Camlok (Made in UK) is part of the Columbus McKinnon group. CE marked and UKCA marked, Declaration of Conformity supplied. Suspension point only โ€” NOT for use as a load-gripping lifting clamp per the manufacturer safety notice. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations every 12 months.

More About This Product

Safety notice:

The Camlok YC is a

suspension point only

. It must NOT be used as a load-gripping lifting clamp. Use a dedicated horizontal or vertical plate clamp (Camlok CH, CX, etc.) for direct load engagement.

The Camlok YC is a beam clamp providing a quick rigging suspension point for hoists, pulley blocks, and other lifting equipment. The wide adjustment range covers I-beam flange widths from 75 mm to 320 mm depending on capacity, and the central threaded spindle gives easy attachment with a safe and secure grip. The spindle can be secured against loosening for extended-period applications. Five capacities cover the full load range from 1,000 to 10,000 kg. Manufactured by Camlok in the UK as part of the Columbus McKinnon group.

Suitable Applications

Beam-mounted suspension points for hoists, pulley blocks, and other lifting equipment. Temporary rigging anchor points where a beam-mounted suspension is needed. Mobile rigging and erection work. The YC is for suspending lifting equipment from a beam โ€” not for directly gripping and lifting loads.

How to Use the Camlok YC

  1. Confirm beam compatibility: Flange width within YC's adjustment range.
  2. Open the spindle: Back off central threaded spindle far enough to slide clamp onto flange.
  3. Position at the working location.
  4. Tighten the spindle firmly: Turn spindle until clamp grips flange securely.
  5. Lock the spindle if required: For long-duration applications, secure against loosening.
  6. Attach hoist or rigging: Connect suspension hook, shackle, or sling to the YC eye.
  7. Test: Apply partial load and confirm clamp grip before full WLL.

Warning: Verify the supporting beam is rated for the load. The YC is a suspension point only โ€” it must NOT be used as a lifting clamp to directly grip loads.

Safety Information

  • Confirm beam is rated for the load before attaching the clamp.
  • Verify beam flange width within the YC's adjustment range.
  • Never exceed the Working Load Limit.
  • Tighten the spindle firmly and verify no movement before applying full load.
  • Secure the spindle against loosening for extended applications.
  • Never use to lift, lower or transport persons.
  • NEVER use the YC as a load-gripping lifting clamp. The YC is a suspension/anchor point only per the manufacturer safety notice. Use a dedicated lifting clamp (Camlok CH, CX) for direct load engagement.
  • LOLER 1998 thorough examination every 12 months.

Inspection and Maintenance

Requires inspection of spindle threads, jaw faces, clamp body, lifting eye, and locking feature. Bent jaws, damaged threads, or loss of locking function requires withdrawal from service. WOLFF Onsite provides LOLER inspection and overhaul.

Optional Accessories

  • Camlok SC92 alternative: For Screwlok design with integral shackle (capacities to 20,000 kg).
  • Yale CTP integral trolley clamp: For chain hoist suspension on smaller beams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: YC or SC92 โ€” which should I choose?

Both are screw-type Camlok beam clamps from the Columbus McKinnon group. YC is the standard range with a captive bolt design and integral lifting eye for suspension; SC92 is the Screwlok design with integral shackle bow. Functionally similar up to 10,000 kg. SC92 covers higher capacities (up to 20,000 kg) and is preferred where a shackle attachment is needed. Both are suspension points only โ€” neither is rated as a load-gripping lifting clamp.

Q: Can the YC be used as a lifting clamp (gripping the load itself)?

No. Per the current Camlok/CMCO manufacturer safety notice, the YC is a suspension point only and must NOT be used as a load-gripping lifting clamp. The YC is rated for suspending lifting equipment (hoists, pulleys, slings) from a beam โ€” not for directly gripping and lifting loads. For direct plate-lifting applications, use a dedicated plate clamp such as the Camlok CH (horizontal) or CX (vertical).

Q: Can the YC be used as a horizontal rigging anchor?

The YC is primarily designed as a vertical suspension point. Some horizontal anchor use (lateral pulling, fleeting, tensioning) is permitted within the manufacturer operating instructions โ€” refer to the Operating Manual for permitted geometries. It is NOT a load-gripping lifting clamp.

Q: What's the heaviest beam clamp Yale offers?

YC 10 = 10,000 kg. For heavier loads up to 20,000 kg, use the Camlok SC92-15 (15 t) and SC92-20 (20 t). For very heavy loads above 20 t, contact our engineering team.

Q: Is the YC the same as the Yale-catalogue listing of this product?

The YC is a Camlok product within the Columbus McKinnon group, also catalogued under the Yale hoisting range. WOLFF Onsite supplies the Camlok-branded YC for direct UK customers (Made in UK). The Yale-catalogue listing and Camlok-catalogue listing describe the same physical product, but the manufacturer's current safety notice (suspension point only โ€” NOT for lifting) applies in both cases.
