Eichinger Concrete Column Skip

Model 1034C | Laydown Design | Bale Arm | CE Marked | UKCA Compliant | 3m Hose Included

The Eichinger Concrete Column Skip (Model 1034C) is a heavy-duty, purpose-built skip specifically designed for pouring wet concrete into columns, formwork, walls, and pipe laying work. Built in Germany by Florian Eichinger GmbH, the 1034C features a laydown design for fast, easy filling and a 200 mm diameter rubber delivery hose attached directly to the discharge gate, allowing operators to direct the flow of concrete with precision and without concrete segregation. The variable outlet design means the hose can also be removed to allow easier pouring of slabs, making the 1034C the ideal universal concrete skip for both hire companies and contractors. The skip also features the Eichinger heavy-duty kick-down hopper for easier cleaning after use and a gate-closing pulley for increased operator confidence (standard fitting on skips of 1,000 litres and above).

CE Marked, UKCA Compliant & BG Safety Approved

This product carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and a UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market. The skip is designed and manufactured to the occupational health and safety standards of the German Berufsgenossenschaften (BG โ€” Employers' Liability Insurance Associations). Manufactured under DIN ISO 9001:2015 quality management and independently tested by TรœV Nord for product and workplace safety. An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit as standard.

  • 200 mm ร— 3 m rubber delivery hose โ€” supplied as standard, attached to the discharge gate for precise, directed pouring into columns and formwork
  • Variable outlet โ€” hose can be removed for direct pouring of slabs, making this a truly universal concrete skip
  • Heavy-duty kick-down hopper โ€” Eichinger's proven design enables faster, easier cleaning of the skip after use
  • Gate-closing pulley โ€” increases operator confidence by providing positive gate closure (standard on 1,000 litre models and above)
  • Pull-cord gate operation โ€” 3 m pull cord (ReiรŸleine) for controlled opening of the discharge gate from a safe distance
  • Automatic spring-return closure โ€” discharge gate closes automatically via spring tension when the pull cord is released
  • Adjustable spring tension โ€” gate spring tension can be adjusted via the tension nut above the gate for consistent performance
  • Bale arm lifting โ€” all models supplied with bale arm as standard; traverse (cross-beam) fitted on models over 1,000 litres capacity
  • German-engineered construction โ€” manufactured by Florian Eichinger GmbH in Mรผhlhausen, Germany, producing construction equipment since 1904

Suitable Applications

The 1034C Concrete Column Skip is designed for any application where wet concrete needs to be placed accurately into formwork or structural elements. It is commonly used for pouring concrete into columns, walls, foundations, pad bases, pile caps, lift shafts, and stairwell cores. The delivery hose makes it particularly effective for pouring into narrow or hard-to-reach formwork where a standard open-discharge skip would be impractical. With the hose removed, the skip can also be used for general slab pours and large-area concrete placement. The 1034C is used extensively across commercial construction, residential housebuilding, civil engineering, infrastructure projects, and precast concrete operations.

How to Use the Concrete Column Skip

  1. Attach suitably rated lifting equipment to the bale arm. Ensure the lifting hook is fully closed and secure.
  2. Check the discharge gate is fully closed and the gate handle is locked using the locking chain before filling.
  3. Secure the delivery hose over the two hose clips to keep it clear during filling and transit.
  4. Fill the skip with wet concrete using the laydown (horizontal) loading position.
  5. Raise the skip slowly off the ground and check for balance and load security before moving.
  6. Move the load to the intended discharge area, avoiding sudden or jolting movements.
  7. Lower the skip and unhook the delivery hose. Raise the skip above the discharge point and place the hose inside the formwork.
  8. Pull down on the gate control rope in short, controlled actions to release concrete gradually. Do not hold the gate fully open.
  9. Release the pull cord to allow the gate to close automatically under spring tension. Use the gate-closing pulley rope if needed to confirm full closure.
  10. After use, hose the skip out thoroughly, ensuring the gate area (inside and out) is clear of residual concrete and grout.

Warning: Do not hold the gate open on a full skip as the total weight of the contents may detach the hose from the skip. Always empty using short, controlled actions.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the Great Britain market. Following Brexit, the UK government has confirmed indefinite recognition of CE marking for lifting equipment in Great Britain, meaning businesses can use either UKCA or CE marked accessories provided the equipment is accompanied by a Declaration of Conformity (DoC). The skip is manufactured under a DIN ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system, and independently tested by TรœV Nord for product and workplace safety (GS โ€” Tested Safety mark). It is built in accordance with the occupational health and safety regulations of the German Berufsgenossenschaften (BG). All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

Safety Information

  • Do not hold the gate open on a full skip โ€” the total weight of the contents may detach the hose from the skip. Always empty using short, controlled actions.
  • Never exceed the rated Safe Working Load (SWL) as shown on the type plate for each model.
  • The bale arm must be secured in a position that prevents it from swinging down or dropping on anyone when the skip is not in use.
  • Always check the delivery hose is secured safely to the skip and is in good condition before each use.
  • A risk assessment must be carried out prior to moving or using this equipment.
  • Operation only by persons who are familiar with the equipment and have read the operating instructions.
  • Ensure the area of use is clear of overhead cables, power lines, or similar hazards that may affect safe use.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety boots, gloves, goggles, and hi-vis vest.
  • Always slacken the spring before releasing it for cleaning. Ensure the spring is replaced and tension reset before next use.
  • The type plate must remain present and legible at all times. If defects are found, the equipment must not be used until rectified.

Inspection and Maintenance

The concrete column skip must be inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. All inspections must be documented and any defects rectified immediately before the equipment is returned to service. Regular cleaning after each use will extend the working life of the skip โ€” pay particular attention to the gate mechanism, spring tension system, hose coupling, and hose clips.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Eichinger 1034C Concrete Column Skip used for?

The 1034C is designed for pouring wet concrete into columns, formwork, walls, and other structural elements on construction sites. The attached delivery hose directs the concrete flow precisely into narrow or hard-to-reach areas without segregation. With the hose removed, it can also be used for general slab pours.

Q: What sizes of column skip are available?

The 1034C is available in five capacities: 500 litres, 750 litres, 1,000 litres, 1,500 litres, and 2,000 litres. Safe working loads range from 1,200 kg to 4,800 kg depending on the model. All models are supplied with bale arm as standard.

Q: Does the skip come with a delivery hose?

Yes, every 1034C is supplied as standard with a 200 mm diameter ร— 3 metre rubber delivery hose and a 3 metre pull cord.

Q: What is the gate-closing pulley?

The gate-closing pulley (also called the safeguard pulley) is an additional rope and pulley system that allows the operator to positively close the discharge gate after pouring. It increases operator confidence and safety. This feature is fitted as standard on all models of 1,000 litres and above. The 500 litre model does not include this feature.

Q: Can the hose be removed for slab pours?

Yes, the 1034C has a variable outlet design. The rubber delivery hose can be detached from the skip to allow direct, open pouring for slabs and larger areas. This versatility makes the 1034C ideal as a universal concrete skip for hire fleets and contractors who need one skip for multiple applications.

Q: Is the 1034C CE marked and UKCA compliant?

Yes, the 1034C carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and a UKCA certificate is provided where required for the UK market. It is manufactured under DIN ISO 9001:2015 quality management, independently tested by TรœV Nord, and built to the safety standards of the German Berufsgenossenschaften (BG). An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit.

Q: How do I clean the concrete column skip?

After each use, hose the skip out thoroughly, ensuring the gate area (inside and out) is completely clear of residual grout and concrete aggregate. The kick-down hopper makes this process faster and easier. To access the gate fully for deep cleaning, slacken the spring tension first, then release the gate. Always reset the spring tension before the next use.

Q: How often does the skip need to be inspected?

The skip must be visually inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person, in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). All inspection records must be documented and retained.

Q: Who manufactures the 1034C?

The 1034C is manufactured by Florian Eichinger GmbH in Mรผhlhausen, Bavaria, Germany. Eichinger has been producing construction and lifting equipment since 1904 and is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of crane and forklift attachments. All products are manufactured in-house at their German facility โ€” they do not outsource fabrication.
