Pfaff-Silberblau HU HS 10B Manual Hydraulic Scissor Lift Pallet Truck

1,000 kg Capacity | Hand-Pumped Lift to 800 mm | Ergonomic Work Height | CE Marked

The Pfaff-Silberblau HU HS 10B is a scissor lift pallet truck that raises palletised loads to ergonomic working height for picking, packing, assembly and inspection. Where a standard pallet truck lifts only enough to clear the floor (115 mm), the HS 10B raises the entire pallet to approximately 800 mm via a manual hydraulic foot pump โ€” stock at hip height rather than bent-over work, substantially reducing musculoskeletal strain over a shift. The 1,000 kg capacity covers most stockroom and pick-face applications, with a hot-dip galvanised scissor mechanism and hard-chromed hydraulic piston.

Key Features

  • Scissor lift to approximately 800 mm working height โ€” lifts the entire pallet to hip height for pick-face work, assembly, inspection, and packing. Eliminates the bend-and-reach posture that creates back strain over long shifts.
  • 1,000 kg capacity โ€” covers most stockroom, assembly, and pick-face applications. Roughly the weight of a fully-loaded UK or Euro pallet of medium-weight stock (cartons, plastic crates, small fixings).
  • Manual hydraulic foot pump โ€” no electrical supply or battery required. The foot pump is positioned for natural operation while the operator is positioned at the handle for steering control.
  • Scissor mechanism with anti-trap fold โ€” the scissor design folds completely flat when lowered, keeping the truck profile to standard pallet-truck height when not lifting. The mechanism is designed to prevent finger or hand traps in normal operation.
  • Hard-chromed hydraulic piston โ€” resists corrosion and seal wear under high-cycle commercial use.
  • Robust steel construction โ€” 122 kg of frame and mechanism stands up to daily use. Hot-dip galvanised scissor arms resist corrosion in damp working environments.
  • Standard pallet-truck handling when lowered โ€” transports like a standard pallet truck between work stations, then lifts at the work point.

More About This Product

The Pfaff-Silberblau HU HS 10B is a scissor lift pallet truck designed to bring palletised loads up to ergonomic working height for picking, packing, assembly, and inspection. Where a standard pallet truck lifts loads only enough to clear the floor (115 mm), the HS 10B raises the entire pallet up to approximately 800 mm above floor level through a manual hydraulic foot pump. The result is that operators work with pallet stock at hip height rather than bent over at floor level โ€” a substantial reduction in musculoskeletal strain over a full shift. The 1,000 kg capacity covers most stockroom and pick-face applications. Engineered and manufactured by Pfaff-Silberblau (Columbus McKinnon Group) with a hot-dip galvanised scissor mechanism, hard-chromed hydraulic piston, and PUR/PUR roller specification.

Where Is the HS 10B Used?

The HS 10B is found wherever palletised stock needs to be presented to a working operator at a comfortable height. Order-picking operations use it as the host truck for the pick face โ€” the operator pulls items off the pallet at hip height rather than bending repeatedly to floor level. Assembly stations use it for component supply โ€” sub-assemblies and parts pallets are presented at the work height of the assembler. Quality inspection lines use it for incoming goods checks โ€” the inspector examines the load at eye level rather than crouching at floor level.

It is also used as a low-cost alternative to a fixed work table where the work is intermittent. A loading and unloading operation might use the HS 10B for the few hours per day when pallets are being unpacked, then move it to storage rather than committing the floor space to a permanent work bench.

Recommended Pre-Use Checks

  1. Visually inspect the forks, scissor arms, and frame for damage, cracks, or deformation. Scissor arms in particular show fatigue cracks before they fail โ€” check the pivot points carefully.
  2. Check the load rollers and steering rollers for free rotation and embedded debris.
  3. Test the lift function from fully lowered to fully raised before placing a load on the forks.
  4. Test the lower function โ€” the truck should lower smoothly and controllably from any height, with the manual release valve operating positively.
  5. Confirm the hydraulic system holds pressure at the raised position โ€” raise the unladen scissor fully, leave for 30 seconds, check for unintended drop.
  6. Inspect for hydraulic oil leaks around the foot-pump cylinder and scissor mechanism.
  7. Verify the data plate is legible.

Safety Information

  • Do not exceed the 1,000 kg safe working load. Scissor mechanisms have less margin against overload than standard pallet trucks.
  • Do not use to lift personnel under any circumstances.
  • Distribute the load evenly across both forks. Off-centre loads on a raised scissor truck are particularly unstable.
  • Never place hands or fingers in the scissor mechanism during lift or lower operations.
  • Never reach under a raised load. The scissor lock is designed for normal operation; do not rely on it as a permanent support for personnel safety.
  • Do not move the truck under load with the forks fully raised โ€” the centre of gravity is significantly higher than a standard pallet truck and the truck can tip during travel. Lower the load before moving any distance.
  • Move at walking speed only when the truck is travelling between work points.
  • Rated for ambient temperature -10ยฐC to +50ยฐC.
  • Inspect annually under PUWER 1998. The scissor mechanism should be examined in detail at every inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I move the truck with the load raised?

No โ€” or rather, only over very short distances at very low speed, and not as part of normal operation. The scissor lift raises the centre of gravity significantly above standard pallet truck height. Travelling with a raised load on uneven floors or around corners can tip the truck, especially with off-centre loads. Standard practice is to lower the load completely before moving more than a few metres.

Q: How long does the foot pump take to raise a load?

For a typical 500 kg load, about 30 to 40 foot pump strokes to full height โ€” roughly 45 to 60 seconds of pumping. Higher loads take more strokes. The pump is designed for periodic use during the working day, not continuous high-cycle work; for high-cycle applications, the electric ES 10B is the correct choice.

Q: What is the difference between the HS 10B and ES 10B?

Same truck, different lift mechanism. The HS 10B uses a manual hydraulic foot pump; the ES 10B uses an electric hydraulic pump driven by a 12V battery. The ES 10B raises a load to full height in seconds rather than the 45 to 60 seconds of the manual pump. Choose the HS 10B for occasional lifting and low-throughput work; choose the ES 10B if the truck will lift loads frequently throughout the shift.

Q: What pallet sizes does it fit?

540 mm outside-fork width with 1,170 mm fork length suits standard UK pallets (1,000 ร— 1,200 mm) and Euro pallets (800 ร— 1,200 mm) from either entry side. The 85 mm lowered fork height clears all EN 13698-compliant pallets.

Q: Can it be used outdoors?

Short outdoor use on hard surfaces is acceptable. Continuous outdoor use is not recommended โ€” rainwater entering the scissor pivots accelerates wear, and the powder-coated finish will weather. Store under cover. For continuous outdoor use, a different specification is required.

Q: What hydraulic oil does it use?

HLP-DIN 51524 T2 ISO VG 46 hydraulic oil โ€” the same specification as the rest of the Pfaff hand pallet truck range. First oil change after 20 operating hours; thereafter annually.

Q: What annual inspection is required?

PUWER 1998 applies as standard. The scissor mechanism should be examined in detail at every annual inspection โ€” pivot pins, scissor arm welds, and the lift cylinder mount all need close examination. Replace any parts showing fatigue.
