Pfaff-Silberblau HU PROLINE Short-Fork Hand Pallet Truck

PROLINE | 2,500 kg Capacity | Fork Lengths 600 – 1,000 mm | CE Marked

The Pfaff-Silberblau HU PROLINE short-fork range is designed for the opposite problem to the extended-fork range: lifting small pallets and stock containers in confined working spaces where a standard 1,150 mm fork is too long to manoeuvre. Engineered and manufactured in Germany by Pfaff-Silberblau (Columbus McKinnon Group), the range covers five fork lengths from 600 mm to 1,000 mm with both single-roller (EP) and tandem-roller (TP) configurations. The PROLINE chassis specification — hardened axles, hard-chromed hydraulic piston, powder-coated steel frame — is identical to the standard-length PROLINE models, so the only practical difference is the reduced fork length and improved manoeuvrability in tight spaces. 2,500 kg capacity is retained across the entire short-fork range.

CE Marked & EN 1757-2 Compliant

Supplied with an EC Declaration of Conformity under EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Manufactured in compliance with EN 1757-2 and the harmonised standards DIN EN ISO 12100-1 and DIN EN ISO 12100-2. Type tested under BGV D27.

Key Features

  • Fork lengths 600 to 1,000 mm — five options to match small pallets, half-pallets, plastic stock crates, drum carriers, and specialist hospital and retail trolleys that fall short of the 1,150 mm standard.
  • Full 2,500 kg capacity throughout — unlike the extended-fork range which derates for longer forks, the short-fork range retains the full SILVERLINE-equivalent capacity at every fork length because bending stress is reduced rather than increased.
  • Single (EP) and tandem (TP) roller configurations — the EP variant uses single load rollers for lower cost and lighter weight; the TP variant uses tandem rollers for better load distribution and longer service life under high-cycle commercial use.
  • PROLINE-grade chassis — hardened axles, hard-chromed piston, and the same heavier construction as the standard-length PROLINE models. Built for daily commercial use.
  • Compact overall length — the 600 mm fork variant cuts overall truck length to under 1,200 mm, opening up working space in cellar storage, retail stockrooms, hospital pharmacies, and confined plant rooms that won't accommodate a standard pallet truck.
  • 105° steering each side — combined with the reduced fork length, gives an exceptionally tight turning radius for confined spaces.
  • Ergonomic safety handle — rubber grip with one-handed control of lift, drive, and lower.

Where Is the PROLINE Short Used?

The short-fork PROLINE is found in working environments where a standard pallet truck physically will not fit or cannot turn. Hospital pharmacies and central stores use the 800 mm tandem variant for moving drug-distribution pallets through service corridors. Retail backrooms and convenience-store stockrooms specify the 600 mm single-roller variant for moving roll cages and half-pallets where the floor space simply doesn't exist for a full-size truck.

Drum-handling operations specify the 1,000 mm tandem variant because standard four-drum pallets are 1,000 mm square — the matching fork length gives full base support without the rear overhang that a 1,150 mm fork creates. Confined plant rooms, basement storage, archive stacks, and any operation moving plastic stock crates rather than full pallets all benefit from the shorter footprint.

Recommended Pre-Use Checks

  1. Visually inspect the forks, frame, and connecting rods for damage, cracks, or deformation.
  2. Check the load rollers for free rotation and embedded debris.
  3. Check the steering rollers and confirm the 105° steering travel is unobstructed.
  4. Test the lift and lower functions through full travel before placing a load on the forks.
  5. Confirm the hydraulic system holds pressure — raise the unladen forks fully, leave for 30 seconds, check for unintended drop.
  6. Inspect the chassis for hydraulic oil leaks around the pump and lift cylinder.
  7. Verify the data plate is legible.

Safety

  • Do not exceed the 2,500 kg safe working load.
  • Despite the short fork, the load centre rule still applies — load must be evenly distributed across both forks and seated against the fork heel, not the tip.
  • Do not use to lift personnel under any circumstances.
  • The short fork makes the truck more manoeuvrable but does not change the operator's line-of-sight obligations — check for trip hazards and obstructions.
  • Standard delivery is without parking brake — specify if needed.
  • Move at walking speed only. Pedestrian operation.
  • Rated for ambient temperature -10°C to +50°C.
  • Inspect annually under PUWER 1998 and BGV D27.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which fork length do I need?
Match the fork to the pallet you handle. Standard 800 mm half-pallets need the 800 mm fork (TP or EP). Four-drum 1,000 mm square pallets need the 1,000 mm fork. Custom 600 mm crates or specialist hospital trolleys need the 600 mm. If you handle a mix, the 800 mm TP is the most versatile single specification covering everything from half-pallets up.
EP or TP — single or tandem rollers?
Tandem (TP) for high-cycle commercial use — longer roller life, better load distribution. Single (EP) for lighter or occasional use where the marginal cost saving matters. The 600 mm fork is only available as EP because the short fork limits the room for tandem roller mounting.
Why does the capacity not derate like the long forks?
Bending stress on a cantilevered fork increases with length and decreases with shorter length. The short-fork variants have less bending stress than the standard 1,150 mm SILVERLINE at the same load, so the 2,500 kg rating is retained across the entire range.
Will it work with UK pallets?
No — a UK or Euro pallet at 1,200 mm long needs at least a 1,150 mm fork to capture the full base. Use the SILVERLINE TS or BTS for standard pallets. The short-fork PROLINE is specifically for sub-1,150 mm loads like half-pallets, drum quads, and stock crates.
Can I use it for moving drums?
Yes if the drums are mounted on a 1,000 mm square pallet base — the HU 25-100 TP handles four 200-litre drums on standard four-drum pallets. Loose-drum handling (without a pallet) requires a dedicated drum trolley, not a pallet truck.
Does it fit through a standard doorway?
Yes — all short-fork variants are under 600 mm wide overall, fitting through standard 750 mm and 900 mm doorways comfortably. The 600 mm fork variant has the shortest overall length and is the easiest to manoeuvre through office and service door layouts.
What annual inspection requirements apply?
As with all commercial industrial trucks, PUWER 1998 applies. A competent person should examine the truck at least every twelve months.
