Pfaff-Silberblau HU SILVERLINE BTS Wide Hand Pallet Truck

SILVERLINE | 2,000 – 2,500 kg Capacity | 685 mm or 850 mm Wide Fork | CE Marked

Engineered and manufactured in Germany by Pfaff-Silberblau (Columbus McKinnon Group), the SILVERLINE BTS is the hand pallet truck specified by sites that handle non-standard pallets. Where the standard 540 mm fork width misses the boards on American GMA pallets, brickyard pallets, and oversized industrial flats, the BTS extends to 685 mm or 850 mm outside-fork width to capture the full pallet base. Two capacity options cover most professional applications: 2,500 kg in the HU 25-115 BTS at 685 mm width, and 2,000 kg in the HU 20-115 BTS at the extra-wide 850 mm. Both share the SILVERLINE chassis with tandem load rollers, ergonomic safety control handle, hard-chromed hydraulic piston, and powder-coated steel frame engineered for daily hire-fleet use.

CE Marked & EN 1757-2 Compliant

Supplied with an EC Declaration of Conformity under EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Manufactured in compliance with EN 1757-2 (Safety of industrial trucks — pedestrian-controlled pallet trucks) and the harmonised standards DIN EN ISO 12100-1 and DIN EN ISO 12100-2 (Safety of Machinery). Type tested under BGV D27 by an authorised inspection body.

Key Features

  • Wider fork spread for non-standard pallets — 685 mm or 850 mm outside-fork dimension captures the full base of American GMA pallets, brickyard pallets, plant pots, and oversized industrial flats that the standard 540 mm SILVERLINE will not lift safely.
  • Tandem load rollers — four load rollers paired in tandem on each fork tine distribute weight over a longer footprint, reducing roller wear and giving a smoother ride over uneven warehouse floors and pallet boards.
  • Ergonomic single-handed control — lift, drive, and lower all operated from the rubber-gripped safety handle, with steering at 105° each side for tight turning in confined aisles and lorry beds.
  • Hard-chromed hydraulic piston — rated for the high cycle counts typical of hire fleets and busy distribution sites. Pressure relief valve protects the system from accidental overload.
  • Robust steel construction — adjustable connecting rods, hardened axles, and powder-coated finish stand up to the rough handling that finishes off lighter trucks within a year on site.
  • VG/PUR roller combination — solid rubber steering wheels absorb shock over thresholds and door tracks; polyurethane load rollers run quietly on hard floors without marking.
  • Optional parking brake — available as a factory-fitted upgrade for sites where the truck will be parked on a gradient. Standard delivery is without brake; add at point of order if required.

Where Is the BTS Used?

The BTS family is the truck of choice on sites that handle imported goods, oversized pallets, or industrial flats that fall outside the standard 1,000 × 1,200 mm UK pallet footprint. Distribution centres receiving palletised goods from US suppliers regularly find their existing fleet can't safely handle GMA-format pallets — the standard fork spread either misses the support boards entirely or only partially engages them, creating a fall risk during transit. The 685 mm HU 25-115 BTS solves this by spanning the full board width.

The 850 mm HU 20-115 BTS handles even larger formats — bricklayer pallets, kerb-stone pallets, plant nursery flats, and certain pharmaceutical clean-room pallets. The trade-off for the wider fork is a slight reduction in capacity from 2,500 kg to 2,000 kg, which still covers nearly all palletised loads at their working limits.

Recommended Pre-Use Checks

  1. Visually inspect the forks, frame, and connecting rods for damage, cracks, or deformation.
  2. Check both load rollers on each fork tine for free rotation and embedded debris — tandem rollers can mask wear on the inner pair.
  3. Check the steering rollers for free rotation and confirm the 105° steering travel is unobstructed.
  4. Test the lift and lower functions through full travel before placing a load on the forks.
  5. Confirm the hydraulic system holds pressure — raise the unladen forks fully, leave for 30 seconds, and check for unintended drop.
  6. Inspect the chassis for hydraulic oil leaks around the pump and lift cylinder.
  7. If fitted with the optional parking brake, test that it engages and releases positively.
  8. Verify the data plate (capacity, serial, year of manufacture) is legible.

Safety

  • Do not exceed the stated 2,000 kg (HU 20-115 BTS) or 2,500 kg (HU 25-115 BTS) safe working load.
  • Do not use to lift personnel under any circumstances.
  • Distribute the load evenly across both forks. An off-centre load can tip the truck.
  • The standard BTS is supplied without a parking brake — do not park on any gradient unless the optional brake is fitted.
  • Move at walking speed only. The truck is rated for pedestrian operation, not running pace.
  • Operators should be trained in manual handling.
  • Rated for ambient temperature -10°C to +50°C. Not suitable for cold-store below this range without modification.
  • Inspect annually under PUWER 1998 and the manufacturer's BGV D27 schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BTS, TS, and ES models?
All three are SILVERLINE-series hand pallet trucks sharing the same chassis. BTS denotes Breit (wide) with Tandem rollers — the wide-fork variants at 685 mm or 850 mm outside dimension. TS is the standard 540 mm width with Tandem rollers. ES is the standard 540 mm width with single (Einfach) load rollers, slightly lighter and lower-cost than the TS but with less load distribution.
Which fork width should I order — 685 mm or 850 mm?
Measure the outside-to-outside dimension of the pallets you actually handle. Standard US GMA pallets and many European brickyard pallets are around 1,000 mm wide externally with boards spanning the full width — the 685 mm version is correct for these. Plant nursery pallets, oversized industrial flats, and certain custom pallets exceed this and need the 850 mm version. If you are unsure, send us a photo of a typical pallet and we will confirm.
Is the parking brake included as standard?
No. The SILVERLINE BTS is supplied without a parking brake by default; the brake is an optional extra fitted at the factory at additional cost. If your site involves parking on a gradient at any point, order with the brake from the start — retrofitting is more expensive than specifying at point of order. The FBTP model (HU 25-115 FBTP) has a factory-integrated driving and parking brake if both are required.
Can it handle UK and Euro pallets as well?
Yes — the BTS forks are 160 mm wide and 1,150 mm long, which fit the standard board spacings on UK pallets (1,000 × 1,200 mm) and Euro pallets (800 × 1,200 mm). The wide outside dimension simply means there is extra fork clearance on each side — the truck is not restricted to oversized pallets.
What is the lowered fork height? Can it enter all pallets?
85 mm. This is compatible with all bottom-boarded and open-base pallets meeting EN 13698. Some heavily damaged or non-standard pallets with thicker bottom boards may not clear — in those cases the HU 15-115 FTP PROLINE low-profile model with 51 mm entry is the recommended alternative.
Does it require annual inspection?
Yes — as a pedestrian-controlled industrial truck used commercially, it falls under PUWER 1998. A competent person should carry out a thorough examination at least every twelve months and records should be kept.
