Yale C85 PUL-LIFT Ratchet Lever Hoist (Roller Chain)

Model C85 | Capacity 750 kg to 3,000 kg | Roller Chain | Single Fall | EN 12195 | German Engineered Since 1936

The Yale C85 PUL-LIFT is a heavy-duty ratchet lever hoist designed for the toughest industrial applications. Built around a roller chain rather than a link chain, the C85 is the go-to choice for maintenance, mining, construction, steel fabrication, shipbuilding and utility work where a robust, reliable manual hoist is needed for moving and positioning heavy machines, securing heavy loads, or setting pipes in manholes and trenches. The enclosed housing, hand lever and bottom block are all manufactured from high-tensile white malleable cast iron for exceptional service life under heavy use.

CE & UKCA Marked | EN 12195 Approved | Made in Velbert, Germany

Yale is part of the Columbus McKinnon group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of motion technology and lifting equipment. The Velbert factory has manufactured over 1 million Yale PUL-LIFT units since 1936. This product is CE marked (EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) and UKCA marked (UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008). All ratchet lever hoists with a capacity exceeding 750 kg can be used for load attachment in accordance with EN 12195. Supplied with Declaration of Conformity. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person.

Key Features

  • Enclosed cast-iron housing: Housing, housing cover, hand lever and bottom block all manufactured from high-tensile white malleable cast iron for an overall rugged construction that withstands rough handling and harsh environments.
  • Heat-treated steel roller chain sprocket: The roller chain sprocket is made from heat-treated chromium-molybdenum steel with precision-machined teeth, ensuring smooth chain movement and long service life under cyclic loading.
  • Alloyed steel roller chain, zinc-plated: The load chain meets national and international standards and regulations, with zinc plating for corrosion resistance.
  • Wet-painted RAL 1023 finish: Industrial-grade wet paint finish in traffic yellow for high visibility on site and durability against scuffing and weather.
  • Three capacities: 750 kg, 1,500 kg and 3,000 kg, all in single-fall configuration with handle pull of 38, 31 and 40 daN respectively at WLL.
  • Compact handle length: 443 mm handle for the 750 kg and 1,500 kg models; 570 mm for the 3,000 kg. Suitable for confined-space operation.
  • German manufactured to Yale standards: Continuously refined since the original Yale PUL-LIFT design first entered production in Velbert in 1936.

Suitable Applications

The C85 PUL-LIFT roller-chain ratchet lever hoist is purpose-built for maintenance, mining, construction, steel fabrication, shipbuilding and utility work. Typical jobs include moving and positioning heavy machinery, securing loads during transit, setting pipes in manholes and trenches, structural steel erection, plant maintenance, and any lifting or pulling task where a high-cycle manual hoist with roller chain is preferred over a link chain.

Safety Information

  • Always inspect the hoist before each use (chain, hooks, safety latches, housing, lever).
  • Never exceed the Working Load Limit stamped on the hoist body.
  • Engage hook safety latches on both top and load hooks before lifting.
  • Use only the manufacturer's hand lever โ€” never with extension bars or pipe extensions.
  • Never use the hoist to lift, lower or transport persons.
  • Never side-load or angle-load the hoist; always lift in line with the chain.
  • LOLER 1998 thorough examination required every 12 months by a competent person.
