Conquip Block Grab

Mechanical grab for lifting block packs, kerb stones, paving and concrete items with an excavator or crane.

The Conquip Block Grab is a mechanical grab for lifting blocks, bricks, paving, concrete slabs and kerb stones with an excavator or crane, supplied with a Safety Restraint Net as standard. An automatic catch mechanism lets a single operator stack and unstack secure loads without manual intervention, with top arms and load-levelling arms ensuring a balanced lift every time. Available with Bar Handles or D-Handles and in 800mm or 1000mm internal heights, all variants share an 1800kg Working Load Limit and accept the Block Grab Forklift Adaptor.

Key Features

  • Choice of Bar Handles or D-Handles for accurate load positioning
  • 1800kg Working Load Limit across all variants
  • Two internal heights (800mm or 1000mm) accommodate varying load profiles

More About This Product

The Conquip Block Grab is a mechanical grab designed for lifting blocks, bricks, paving, concrete slabs, and kerb stones with an excavator or crane. Supplied with a Safety Restraint Net as standard, the grab uses an automatic catch mechanism that allows a single operator to stack and unstack secure loads without manual intervention. Top arms and load-levelling arms are engineered to increase durability and ensure a balanced lift every time. Available with either Bar Handles or D-Handles for positioning the unit, and in two internal heights โ€” 800mm and 1000mm โ€” to accommodate varying load profiles. All variants share a 1800kg Working Load Limit and are compatible with the Conquip Block Grab Forklift Adaptor for use on forklifts and telehandlers as an alternative to excavators.

Suitable Applications

The Block Grab is widely used on housebuilding, civils, and RC frame projects for moving block packs, kerb stones, paving, and precast concrete items. It is the preferred solution wherever block packs need to be moved efficiently around site or stacked at height with an excavator or crane. The Block Grab Forklift Adaptor extends compatibility to forklifts and telehandlers, making it a versatile choice for sites with mixed plant.

How to Use

  1. Inspect the unit before each use, paying attention to the catch mechanism, lifting points, and rubber stoppers
  2. Lower the open grab over the block pack ensuring the arms surround the load completely
  3. Lift gently to engage the automatic catch mechanism โ€” the grab arms will close around the load
  4. Attach the supplied Safety Restraint Net to the dedicated hooks on the top arms before lifting
  5. Verify the load is balanced and the net is secure, then complete the lift to the destination
  6. Lower the grab to release the catch, then open the arms and remove the unit from the load

Warning:
Always use the supplied Safety Restraint Net for loose or unbanded items. Never exceed the 1800kg Working Load Limit. Inspect rubber stoppers and catch mechanism before each lift. Lifting must be carried out by competent personnel in accordance with LOLER 1998.

Safety Information

  • Working Load Limit of 1800kg must not be exceeded
  • Pre-use inspection required before each lift, with thorough examination every six months under LOLER 1998
  • Safety Restraint Net must be fitted to dedicated top-arm hooks before any lift involving loose materials
  • Rubber stoppers must be present and in good condition on each side
  • Ground personnel must stay clear of the lift zone during all operations
  • Damaged units must be removed from service immediately

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I do not have an excavator or crane on site โ€” how else could I use this?

The Conquip Block Grab Forklift Adaptor makes the grab compatible with forklifts and telehandlers, enabling use on sites without crane or excavator capacity.

Q: How are the contents of the Block Grab secured?

Rubber stoppers on the grab arms hold the load on each side, and best practice is to use the supplied Safety Restraint Net by attaching it to the dedicated hooks on the top arms.

Q: Are restraint nets included?

The Safety Restraint Net is supplied with the Block Grab as standard. Replacement nets are available separately.

Q: Which handle option should I choose?

Bar Handles offer a wider grip and are preferred for positioning by a single operative. D-Handles are more compact and suit confined working areas. Both perform identically in terms of lifting capacity.
