Conquip Mortar Skip

Heavy-duty steel mortar tub with fork pockets and crane lifting points for site material handling

The Conquip Mortar Skip is a heavy-duty steel construction skip for moving and storing smaller materials, equipment and waste around site. Crane lifting points and fork pockets allow easy handling by either a forklift or crane, and the all-steel construction provides a longer-lasting and more economical alternative to standard plastic mortar tubs.

Steel construction

Fork pockets and crane lift points | Standard skip lorry compatible | Available 250 and 360 litres

Technical Specifications

Product Code Capacity (litres) Length (mm) Width (mm) Height (mm) Fork Pocket (W x H, mm) Weight (kg) WLL (kg)

WLL = Working Load Limit.

Key Features

  • Robust all-steel construction for durability under repeated site use.
  • Crane lifting points and fork pockets for handling by both forklift and crane.
  • Hooks included for attaching a debris cover to reduce dust pollution when lifting.
  • Compatible with any standard skip lorry for off-site emptying.
  • Two capacities — 250 and 360 litres — covering bricklayer, finishing and minor waste applications.

Suitable Applications

The Mortar Skip is well-suited to bricklaying, rendering, finishing trades and small-scale site logistics where mortar, materials, tools or minor waste need to be stored and moved between locations. Common uses include holding mortar for bricklayers at the working area, transporting tools and materials by forklift between site stores, and collecting smaller waste streams for disposal. The all-steel design lasts substantially longer than disposable plastic mortar tubs.

How to Use

  1. Position the skip on a stable, level surface at the loading point.
  2. Load with mortar, materials or waste evenly within the published working load limit.
  3. For forklift moves, engage the fork pockets and lift, keeping the skip level during transport.
  4. For crane moves, attach the crane to the lifting points using suitably rated shackles.
  5. The slinger and banksman confirm the lift is balanced and guide it to the destination.
  6. Lower the skip to a stable surface at the destination and disengage the lifting equipment.

Warning: Do not exceed the published working load limit (750 kg for the 250 litre size, 1000 kg for the 360 litre size). Always inspect lifting points and fork pockets for damage before use. Never lift personnel.

Safety Information

  • Inspect the skip body, lifting points, fork pockets and shackles before each shift.
  • The forklift driver, crane operator, slinger and banksman must hold appropriate certification.
  • Confirm forklift or crane capacity is suitable for the loaded skip.
  • Keep ground personnel clear of the lift path during transport.
  • Do not exceed the published working load limit for the size in use.
  • Use a debris cover where airborne dust during lifting is a concern.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the skip be lifted by both forklift and crane?

Yes. Fork pockets at 160 mm wide by 77 mm high allow forklift handling, and dedicated crane lifting points allow crane handling. This dual-handling capability is the main reason to choose the steel Mortar Skip over a plastic mortar tub.

Q: What size should I choose?

The 250 litre size suits smaller volumes of mortar or material with a 750 kg working load limit. The 360 litre size has a 1000 kg working load limit and a slightly lower profile, making it a better fit for larger mortar batches or where headroom is restricted.

Q: Why steel rather than a plastic mortar tub?

The steel construction lasts considerably longer than plastic, has higher load ratings, and supports both forklift and crane handling. Over a typical project run, the cost per use of a steel mortar skip is lower than replacing plastic tubs.

Q: Can the skip be emptied off-site?

Yes. Both sizes are compatible with any standard skip lorry, so off-site disposal works the same way as a conventional waste skip.
